Holiday memories




wrapping gifts, boxes
of love in red, gold ribbons,
poinsettia blooms

morning church bells ring,
laughter of children's playing, 
sounds of joy abound

breakfast of rice cakes,
purple yams and coconut,  
sunlit holiday


Written for Few Miles Haiku Challenge 2012 for the month of February:   Day 10- Special Day in my Life . The special times for me are Christmas holidays with my family.

    Many special moments and memories result from our favorite holidays. I have not heard of purple yams ... but I love the orange ones ... and everything taste better with coconut in any form. Joyous set!
