Young children should be protected and sheltered against the evils and greed of men and women. As much as possible, they should sleep peacefully in the comfort and love of their family and home. Though I understand that poverty and ignorance may push poor parents to sell or make them work in sweat shops or prostitution, I believe it is a sin to take away their innocence, and let them carry the worldly burdens of their family at a tender age.
eyelids flutter closed,
dreaming of holding the world,
white moonflower blooms

Grace.... No words... whatever you said is true.. due to poverty parents push them to a dark world! I hope it is not happening at least in near future.. SmileS for your words!
ReplyDeleteYou spoke the words of my heart...
ReplyDeleteVery nice sentiments. Real good job on the haiku, love the final line. Thanks
ReplyDeleteChildren DO need to be protected. I have no sympathy for parents who do anything to take away children's innocence. NOTHING can justify this!
ReplyDeleteWords that touch me deep. This is wonderful written and leaves me in awe and speechless.
ReplyDeleteWonderfully crafted haiku.
This is still happening and it is very sad.
ReplyDeleteA very beautiful haiku, Grace. Really love it!
So very true, they should get the chance to just be innocent and be a kid. Any parent who takes it away should not be a parent to begin with.
ReplyDeletespot on...it hurt my heart to see the things that happen to children in our world...it should never happen....thanks for putting it out there grace....
ReplyDeleteThat this is still happening should make us all feel ashamed. Your haibun is wonderful. I'll be giving my daughter an extra hug tonight.
ReplyDeleteGreat imaginary!...That was an awesome image
ReplyDeleteAmazing what you can see in the dark!
ReplyDeleteHeaven can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Lola but would like to take it a little further and say; Sometimes it helps to give 'big people' hugs, also. There is a child in all of us and maybe, just maybe, that hug might prevent potential perpetuation of perpatration.
Gracias!
'perpetration'
ReplyDeleteNobody has the right to take away a child's innocence no matter what! A very nicely penned haibun. And the haiku with the picture is excellent!
ReplyDeleteThe protection of a child's innocence is imperative to the health of their well-being ... particularly as the effect on their adult lives and the people woven in their lives. Excellent message and write. Thank you, Grace. Bravo on the ending!!
ReplyDeleteWell said.
ReplyDeleteNO higher calling than protecting our children.
