Bittersweet

her love poems,
sweeter than lemon cake
topped with fresh strawberries

~0~0~

his parting words
grated like lemon rinds on cake,
bittersweet fruit

~0~0~

chocolate dessert,
warm as honey, drips slowly
her hardened heart

  1. It seems as though his apathy has hardened her heart. That is what it seems. Hence the comparison to grated lemon zest. Very powerful words. Very realistic as well.

  11. Gives me new meaning to dessert as strawberry shortcake is my favorite. Remind me to never use chocolate! Great use of words and photo. This may have specific meaning to an event to someone. I don't need to know who or even if it does, just evokes that thought.

    Peace
