when summer sun climbs
ladder of dust
cycle me to the footpath
of sea stones, shells and twigs
lake water, a flute of harmony
blue sky, scattered bed of feathers
swans dive to catch food
i linger under shades to savor feast
of berries

What a great place to be in summer... I crave the nearness to water too...
ReplyDeleteYour cycle route is so idyllic, Grace. We don't have a lake close by. We do have the sea but it is quit ea long ride away for me.
ReplyDeleteI like the phrase, "cycle me to the footpath" showing that it's something you cannot keep from doing, to be with your dear ones in your place of sanctification.
ReplyDeleteLovely Grace. We have all kinds of water nearby, except the beach which is two hours away. I loved this gentle and beautiful trip with you.
ReplyDeleteSure a great spot to linger indeed.
ReplyDeleteI like the peacefulness of the thought of berries under shade.
ReplyDelete"cycle me to the footpath of sea stones, shells and twigs".. sigh.. love this!💜
ReplyDeleteA lovely feast of images, Grace! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this:
ReplyDelete"cycle me to the footpath
of sea stones, shells and twigs"
And the ending:
"i linger under shades to savor feast
of berries"
All the aspects of a lazy summer day by the sea...'ladder of dust'.
ReplyDeleteeating berries in the shade sounds relaxing
ReplyDeleteI can see why you would head for the lake shore in the heat of the summer. Beautiful photo!
