summer nights
i taste the skin
from summer fruit
the juice sticky
on my lips
as sliver of light
glaces the room
you are fixated:
crystals & mirrors
or is it
murmurings of trees
you hear
pressing on
& on
i gulp down
2 red pills

for curbside delivery
under the wave of writing
fog, i set an alarm: to persuade
believers,
invisible enemies in
Stalin's Court of Red Tsar,
the spies in Hitler's inner circle
seeking Allah,
finding Jesus
what are 7 secrets of persuasion?
I turn to the African Samurai
for answers
he, black warrior
is silent
truth is best served, with starving mouth
My hubby's books

Death-song
my hair
bathed in snake's oil under pink moon
my skin
a blasphemy of brine
from slaughtered bones & tusks
watch me
glide wearing the red
crown of destruction
count your hours
because i will smother your every
breath
weigh your coins & fancy
clothes because i will empty every
streets & buildings you have polka-stamped
your name
i will slither-slit
lungs of your weakest lot & then
i will come for
you
the death-song
pealing in your marbled churches-
the nightmare-beast
clawing your heart to stillness-
you own nothing
in this plague of war
but a mote of dust
leave me
alone
until my very own children
come
& kill me

waiting for the curve to flatten (& fall) --->
pair of chickadees
are busy
building nest of twigs
daffodil shoots are opening
to sunshine, dewy-eyed
our windows are closed
- shoes boxed - jackets folded -
tucked away
as house becomes
- fortress -
we hide here,
counting cases
- fatalities/country -
with gloves
- masked -

a symphony at the park
blue sky, fresh cool wind,
afternoon sun on my face -
seagulls shriek, trumpets
over empty streets & tracks
above stadiums deadly quiet
ducks swimming in ponds
geese swooping from sky, thunder-
bolts of wings, symphony
of robins and cardinals -
magical season, i am spring

today, i am a daffodil
the world is a globe
of swirling dust & dead leaves
covering the streets
empty of cars & bustle of city
i hold it, slanting
to where a single sheen of light
glows & spreads
its palette of hues & birdsongs
tiny buds of daffodils,
moss & wild blooms
are birthing, babbling
with smell of earthworms
rhythm of life surges, swells
with measured beats
listening to ancient call of earth
& i follow

at the turn of clock, ontario lake is
gorgeous in blue
stirring the swans, ducks
& birds in flight
cool wind rocks sassy dance
with sky & shoreline
undulating in endless
churning waves & foam
spring arrives (here)
mapping seeds, vines & petals
tilting our faces to brighter days

Spring wishes
Spring showers, wild honeycombs, bed of seeds
Swirl last snowflake to dust, grey to green buds
Our skin is pale moon under pewter sky
Spring showers, wild honeycombs, bed of seeds
Soak our words with birdsongs, maple & spice
Our faces are flowers, dewed by dusk

Helianthus annuus
you shape my face
by light
you spice my lips
of storms
my stem reaches to sky
wrinkling gradient of darkness
to brightest shades
you fill my cheeks
of seeds & quills in
perfect symmetry & florets
in swirling harmony-
a flower, cluster of flowers, crown
of flowering spirals, bouquets of sun-
shine
for you-

s p a c e s
you keep filling pages
with words
gridlines
& quotes
i see the slant of setting sun on winterfrost
and small birds spiralling out
at slightest sound
time is slow burn
stretching unscarfing in
quietude of evenings
here are spaces within me
that are
just
