a symphony at the park
blue sky, fresh cool wind,
afternoon sun on my face -
seagulls shriek, trumpets
over empty streets & tracks
above stadiums deadly quiet
ducks swimming in ponds
geese swooping from sky, thunder-
bolts of wings, symphony
of robins and cardinals -
magical season, i am spring

Nice line describing the contrast with nature: "above stadiums deadly quiet".
ReplyDeleteI love these lines Grace:
ReplyDeleteseagulls shriek, trumpets
over empty streets & tracks
I can see and hear this so well.
This spring is fantastic in many ways... but mostly because how quiet it is.
ReplyDeleteI am so looking forward to spring, especially as I watch the snow fall! Ugh, New England weather is never predictable!
ReplyDeleteI like that you used nature as a metaphor for magic. It really is quite magical, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI closed my eyes and imagined I was there with you, Grace! It’s hard to imagine empty streets as I haven’t been out since I got home on 13th March and won’t be going out until further notice. You captured an eerie atmosphere, sweetened by the birds. I especially love ‘thunder-bolts of wings, symphony of robins and cardinals’.
ReplyDeleteWhen we stop our din, we realise how noisy nature is.
ReplyDeleteEverything is in sync, except for the imposed quiet. Though we had complained about the hustle and bustle It still is better than this virus lock down
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday
much love...
Thanks for transporting us to that magic spot. So beautiful and restful.
ReplyDeleteThe world is filling beautifully the spaces humans have vacated.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I love the "thunderbolts of wings."
ReplyDeleteLovely, I can hear that symphony of nature playing in my head.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are well!
I can't wait, we have snow today! Beautiful poem!
ReplyDeleteA beauty! Refreshing.😊 Much needed at this time.

Loved how it was so bird centric. Thunderbolts of wings... nice.
ReplyDeleteWell done Grace! I too believe Spring is the magical season!
ReplyDeleteNature goes on around us. I love the contrast between the silent streets, and the sound of birds.
ReplyDeleteSpring is sure getting underway, now if only the snow would stay away
ReplyDeleteA beautifully painted word picture.
ReplyDeleteThe spring in its splendor!!
ReplyDeleteNature continues to sing for us. I just woke to the birdsong. These words, "thunder-
ReplyDeletebolts of wings" spoke to me. Take care.
A beautiful homage to Spring where every word brings the beauty of it to life. Be well.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful--time to stop, look, and listen. I love "thunderbolts of wings."
ReplyDeleteHeading towards pleasant feelings and beauty is always awaited for! Very true Grace!
