her eyes are cloudy grey
her body
pinked by sugar & vermillion summers
slumps to searing pain
the sadness
from missing his presence for the last year,
hurt her deeply
(soon)
she'll hear swooning music
of his laughter
impersonating TomJones luscious baritone
rising
calling

A lovely tribute to your aunt, Grace. It’s so hard to see the ones we love getting older and less mobile. But wonderful that they can still enjoy the music they love.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tribute, and the way you used their favorite music to bring them together (again)
ReplyDeleteYour words are so poignant yet hopeful.

The return of a loved one is always very special Grace!🙂✌🏼❣️
ReplyDeleteA wonderfully dramatic love poem. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI adore Tom Jones. He is still singing and doing some remarkably modern stuff in the last many years.
ReplyDeleteA grand tribute to both of your kinsfolks, Grace! Great choice in Tom Jones. Seen a posting recently of ,'Green Green Grass...' and singing at 82, his familiar voice is intact!
