i dance to your sun-
light of green & shamrock
a speckle of butterfly wings
a rustle from birds & chipmunks
wildflowers of pale pink & blue
forget-me-nots swish to breeze
above, the maple and oak trees
tower & stretch their young limbs
the forest is tended by sky, clouds,
wind & rich soil teeming by small creatures
busy bees are hard at work
here is soft bed of fern & moss
here is beating pulse of red
berries, here is musk from damp soil
it is a full house
there is no place like home*

Posted for dVerse poets Pub - hosted by Mish. I chose this line from the list of movie quotes. For the long weekend, we went hiking and breathing in nature. Have a good week.
This is gorgeously worded, Grace! I especially love "wildflowers of pale pink & blue forget-me-nots swish to breeze above." It's so calming to be amidst nature 💝💝
ReplyDeleteI agree that there’s no place like home, especially where one can dance to green sunlight beneath maple and oak trees. I love the sudden vivid ‘beating pulse of red berries’.
ReplyDeleteI love how you used the quote as a conclusion... it sounds like an amazing place... and I feel more and more that home is just like that.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds truly wonderful: there is no place like home, which is of course where the heart is. And your heart, like mine, finds a home in nature!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful scene you paint for us with your words. This absolutely reminds me of a place for "forest bathing" - that wonderful Japanese tradition that so rightly says the forest is a soothing place.
ReplyDeleteYou've taken us for a delightful visit of home. Beautiful
ReplyDeleteOh I like the way you brought the aspect of "home" in at the end. Nature is so nurturing and a beautiful, soft place to land.
ReplyDeletei grew up playing in a pine forest this took me there thank you
ReplyDeleteI like the refrain, "Here is..."
ReplyDeleteOur home <3 It's such a lovely home we have.
ReplyDeleteYes; Wonderfully realized home in which I'd love to live & would definitely be at home.
ReplyDelete(Friendly proofreader query: In Stanza 2: "butterly" or "butterfly"?)
Butterfly....thank you. My fingers were butter flying, smiles.
DeleteLove this poem especially the lines: here is beating pulse of red / berries, here is musk from damp soil <3
