Scribble a summer day
Lilacs scents in the air
Birdsongs fill morning steps
Serene blue is the sky
Paint me a carefree noon
Blue iris blooming joys
As children's red balloons
Buckle kites, straying toys
Compose an evening tune
Setting sun on my tea
The rising flower moon
Pink star we hope to see
Lilacs

ReplyDeleteOn my daily walks the lilacs are in full bloom and they smell heavenly. I do look forward to the flower moon.

ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful rhythm running through your poem, Grace, and I was hooked by the opening line ‘scribble a summer day’, the use of colour and the setting sun on tea.
ReplyDeleteAs Kim says, the colours draw you in. It feels like a wonderfully wistful and relaxing dance.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and delicate Grace. 🙂
