Hopes for the land

snow melts
prairie of amber & fiery ash--
charred,  roots awaken

(Wiki Photograph of Pulsatilla patens growing in Boulder, Colorado.)

sun pulses
the grassland in sepia and and emptiness--
hope blooms in blues

(due to recent news in USA)

blood-inked stains
on broken blue & pink crayons --
the barren sky weeps

  7. Our news all day has been about the horrible shootings. Such small children, for such terror. I loved your line "hope blooms in blues". We do somehow have to hang onto hope, even when the news is so dismal.

  8. I have to force my mind to concentrate on your first two haiku, or I will weep. It can be a cruel, cruel world, but as long as there is love, kindness, and poetry, we have a chance.

  21. The first is amazing, I love it deeply. In the last you attempt the impossible, and almost pull it off. Such tragic news! Very brave of you to attempt it in my view.

Yesterday's events are so hard to try to understand and, come to terms with. I cannot imagine the heartbreak in those families affected and in their community.
