i count more than 12 petals
sun-radiant, golden lemon bright,
red specks in the center
we are bee-struck over your
healing prowess
though your size is my palm
your willowy sway
in the breeze, safron scent of mint
and thyme
brings a joyful morning

Happy 12th anniversary dVerse!
What a lovely happy flower to have... and with such a scent.
ReplyDeleteTruly a summer plant with its golden glow of colour, you’ve captured the calendula in your quadrille, Grace. I love the word ‘bee-struck’. I have used calendula for insect bites and cracked lips and agree about its ‘healing prowess’.
ReplyDeleteHappy you also chose a bright yellow flower with healing properties. I've used bubble bath with calendula in it and it does smell wonderful!
ReplyDeleteSuch a joyful, glowing poem. I love the bee-struck line.
ReplyDeleteWhat a thoughtful, gentle poem. Calendula are beautiful and yellow is my favorite color. Beautiful imagery.🥰
ReplyDeleteI first imagined using twelve as flower petals with this prompt. Your poem was lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Grace. I love this piece.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your poem - it brings the warmth of summer to mind.
ReplyDeleteI found it so interesting that the flower is called Calendula and at first I thought the title had something to do with calender which has 12 months.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful poem and flower of summer!
ReplyDeleteAnother one that surprised me with its inventivity! The flower has more than twelve petals, a magic number for some, but in the world of flowers, anything can be perfect.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous is Jane btw.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Grace, for introducing the candula to me. A pretty flower, akin to the beloved daisy. I think it won"t grow easily here in our hot sultry Gulf Coast climate.
ReplyDelete..
The 'saffron scent of mint' is such a fantastic line. This quadrille is a beautiful bouquet of images.
ReplyDeleteYou've described the scents so well, I am there!
ReplyDeleteThis poem sings to my heart. I adore flowers of all kinds. "we are bee-struck over your
ReplyDeletehealing prowess
though your size is my palm"
Delightful words.
Especially like “bee struck”. And the spicy melange, it’s like this flower is a recipe!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely, fragrant poem, Grace ~ just lovely!
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
David
