Whipstitched nebula of filaments
Wandering clouds of dust, ember & gas
We wish
Watchfulness of ravens
Wistful beacon of light from dolphin's eyes
Wellspring of ancient forest billowing in our chests
Weightlessness of wars, words & wounds

What an OPENER! You show us how it's all done and I absolutely love the meaning behind this piece. It is very germane to Thanksgiving today with these few lines especially:
"We wish
Watchfulness of ravens
Wistful beacon of light from dolphin's eyes
Wellspring of ancient forest billowing in our chests
Weightlessness of wars, words & wounds"
Embracing, wishing and hoping for peace. That is truly a dream around the globe that most everyone can likely share. You state this so emotionally, it is stunning the overall impact--so much that you cannot just read the poem once. A beautifully penned piece.
An amazing image - and such a fine piece (I was hopelessly stumped by this one) -images strung on filaments - so in the end we're not sure if it's out there in the nebula or 'billowing in our chests'. Terrific stuff.
ReplyDeleteI love that image and how you describe this wondrous being that floats above it all.
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done Grace. Love this line... Wellspring of ancient forest billowing in our chests
ReplyDeleteI, too was hooked by the first line! Wonderful take on the Pleiades prompt.
ReplyDeleteA spellbinding witch's broom of a Pleiad, Grace! I love the phrase ‘Whipstitched nebula of filaments’ made up of the three elements ‘dust, ember & gas’ and the ‘Watchfulness of ravens’ – all sky-bound.
ReplyDeleteTruly you have cast a spell, which is a wish rounded out into words and put out into the world. I have been caught and rounded by such spells. You are a good witch.
ReplyDeleteI love this. First that there is a nebula with that name, and then that you crafted a poem that captures the magic--and those wishes!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely, Grace. Huge sigh from me.
ReplyDeleteI love this line
ReplyDelete"Weightlessness of wars, words & wounds"
