lost in glade of darkness
Remind me to lean to skylight
where a path
unfurls of wheat and yellow corn
When I am caked with dust
drowning in my own quicksand
Remind me to untie my shoes
I have wings
to slice the moon to crescent bows
When I am slipping with despair
walking with leaden knees
Remind me to unmoor my boat
I have hands
to parcel a sea of beginnings
"We invite the viewer to engage with the imagery to discover their own interpretation and to share it with us. It is art as dialogue rather than monologue, a fabric of conversation, in which we invite the viewer to participate. " lemyreart.com

Curled up with sheer delight reading your poem - every line a gem! Happy New Year Grace
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant... love these lines:
ReplyDeleteI have wings
to slice the moon to crescent bows
When we are sinking we need that helping hand to help ourselves... great way to do the new beginnings.
Terrific poetic compliment to the painting--yes, many of the most truthful answers & solutions come from within. Like Bjorn, I like the lines starting with /I have wings/. It is good to be a poet among poets, searching for harmony & wisdom & love.
ReplyDeleteOh, gosh, this poem is written just for me - thank you, Grace! Particularly loved the phrases 'murky with words' and 'drowning in my own quicksand' - such powerfully evocative images!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great reminder that we need someone to remind us...to keep us afloat and grounded. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAlways grand to have a reminder at hand, pushing us to think differently
ReplyDeleteYES. Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWonder-filled composition. Dream on...
ReplyDeleteExcellent meditation on the picture. Remind me, frees me from the circumstances of life. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful. I feel the slight whisper of a prayer. A strong reminder of our own strength.
ReplyDeleteI really like these:
ReplyDelete"When I am caked with dust
drowning in my own quicksand
Remind me to untie my shoes"
"slice the moon to crescent bows"
A beautiful piece, filled with hope.
ReplyDeleteRemind me . . .
(Thank you! I needed reminding.)
Beautiful Grace - remind you...
ReplyDeleteGrace, this stands out to me as a bold reminder to untie my shoes. Wings are glorious and allow flight.
ReplyDeleteRemind me to untie my shoes
I have wings
As always, it is lovely, Grace. I, too, favor the fourth paragraph...and it does feel like a prayer.
ReplyDeleteIntrospective.
ReplyDelete"Remind me to untie my shoes
ReplyDeleteI have wings
to slice the moon to crescent bows" the words will be with me.....love the message that awakens the drooping self in the most beautiful way...a happy new year Grace :)
Lovely Grace !! Happy new year dear!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I especially love the last two stanzas....
ReplyDeleteI think for those who suffer the depths of depression, this painting and your words bring hope. But it is hard -- so hard. That sliver of moon is within us all, that hope within our moorings....
This is marvelous. I find when I write to such deeply intense themes, I am really challenged to expunge the wordy-flails and get to the essence. You have a real talent for finding those gems - succinctly - and yet, with melodious poetry. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh, Grace, that last line is utterly divine!!
ReplyDeleteA jewel of a poem, Grace. Beautiful language throughout.
ReplyDelete"When I am slipping with despair
ReplyDeletewalking with leaden knees
Remind me to unmoor my boat
I have hands
to parcel a sea of beginnings"
I love everything but these lines are my favorite. <3
Remind me to unmoor my boat
ReplyDeleteI have hands
to parcel a sea of beginnings
One is capable of creating new beginnings in many aspects! But somehow there are obstacles that keep holding them back.
Very true Grace!
Hank
Some great lines in this, Grace! I especially love "Remind me to untie my shoes/I have wings"
ReplyDeleteI loved this. What a great reminder to let go and fly. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed these images and responses. One of my favorites: 'wings to slice the moon to crescent bows'...links nicely to the art (as well as the overall meaning I felt)
