casting jewels

  3. I'm so sorry about the Linky being weird, Grace--no idea why it re-used the old one, but it's fixed now and your poem correctly linked.

I like the way you've shaped this one, like spilling light, and the lingering lavender, the moonshine waist deep--very evocative. (Just a note on the form for next time: your next to last line should be 8 words(the sum of 3 and 5), not 6--but the poem is lovely as is, no need to change it.)Thanks so much for participating.

  4. Grace, I so like the words "slow is the moonshine". This poem is such a great follow to the painting. :)

  5. I love the colours you have infused into this poem - so wonderful a representation of the painting, and a fine example of a Fibonacci sequence.

  7. This has an almost-mystical feel to it. The painting reminds me of Whistler when he was in that phase of his work and the poem reminds me of you! Beautiful peace.

  11. When I write trying to fit it into a form... well, it is too easy to lose count as the number of branching's grow... and faster than we may think. Editing and a lot of practice as we strive to improvise within an intelligible world. Like the absent minded physicists we may forget the date. Anyway what is the pattern that we assume a series of measured things may heed: my first thought reading this challenge was what if it were the Partition Number sequence for a poem form?
1,1,2,3,5,7,15,22,30,42,56... But such connections of numbers as well as words there together are almost as complicated as our minds in the first place as patterns.

  24. I chose the syllable approach, but I think I like the word counting better - it is still short, but a bit more expressive. My photo does not do this image justice. I googled his name to get a better example of this painting and found he was also a photographer - and an amazing one! http://www.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,1669998_1460631,00.html google images and you will get so many more beautiful images. I might have to do a challenge based on his b&w photography.... what do you think? Should I?
