The father's eyes

i'm shy
as a turtle
under this shell, i'll  hide
from everyone, yet you always

see me

you held
me in your hand,
there's a twinkle in your
eyes:   pride, joy, a tinge of sadness -

i'm awed

  2. This made me miss my Dad...who wasn't a man of many words, but his words were always well chosen and have lingered.

  5. Yes agree with "OE" beautiful tribute - I loved the first - a father who really "sees" one is priceless ... I had one of those and he will always be with me :)

  10. Me too, awed. You capture two seconds in nature, smiles in the details, and I too see Dad's eyes and how much he doesn't say.

and I'm awed, too, Grace, at your heartfelt description in a minimum of words. Wonderful. Thank you.

  12. One of the amazing things about being a parent, Grace, is the way we can see inside our children. Indeed, they can't hide; what a privilege to be so close to them.

  16. Such deep meaning in your few words for each, written in lighthearted manner. I didn't have that father so actually tuned out the title of the first and missed the meaning until I read the comments. Am learning how to appreciate how others did have that love and not "screen" so as not to be reminded of mine. TMI. Anyways, more beautiful the second time around...priceless actually.
