mountain crevices
under curtain of water,
crimson with secrets
~0~0
fireworks in the sky
crimson dust twirling, falling
peacock feathers bright

crimson sun fading
behind blue tinge waterfalls,
dust to dust we fall

Sevenling (Window)
the window opens to three things:
colour of the sky, trees on the horizon
and white pebbled ground
the eye catches the morning palette on brick wall,
smell of buttered pancakes and syrup, and
sealed envelope and file on mahogany table
the mood of the day has been made.

Tiptoe
orchestra waltzing
white belles tiptoe and dance,
snowflakes whirling mad
~0~0
the clock hand tiptoes
one minute before midnight ,
moonrise by the sea
~0~0
snow threw a tantrum
loud thunder and crashing sounds,
i held my tea cup

On being productive
the arm trembles
the hand falters
in a second, or a minute,
fear and doubt creeps in.
the ball slides off
you miss the shot
even before it leaves your hand.
this is what happens
if you don’t practice your craft
or play on a regular basis.
you lose your touch,
and sense of rhythm.
so
write
play
compose
paint
sing
cook
doodle
draw
everyday if you can.
even a short 5 minute writing
or composing a sentence will lead
into a verse or story.
in touch with your spirit,
you will be more productive than ever.

I was listening to my male officemates talk about sports and an athlete missing the shots or not catching the ball. No matter how good you are, if you missed a game or didn't play in the field for some time, your play will not be as good as when you are playing all the time.

Nightime
the quarter moon sighed softly,
watching children sleep deeply.
will he ever get to play
hide and seek with them all day ?
~0~0
the sun yawned, ready to fall
after watching concert hall
she didn't want to wake up late,
putting all in grumpy state !
0~0~
the stars are quiet tonight
listening to sounds, so light
a wish, prayer, poet's words,
to sparkle long dreary roads !

A tanaga is a short poem of four lines, each line seven syllables with a single rhyme. Today, other rhyme schemes are used, including freestyle rhyme, but for the purpose of this exercise, let's try to stick with couplets.

Tree of sunshine
yellow, bright as sun's cheeks
was the color on the wall,
until you smeared it cloudy gray
scrubbing, peeling it away
i could not, in my blue winter coat
so i took a bulb of onion tears,
and potted it with black manure
and potted it with black manure
the tree grew fragrant white blossoms,
lighting up my kitchen of shine
bearing lemons, sweet and juicy
spilling spring on my lap, green
curtains on my window, yellow
all through snow splattered days
If you are feeling the winter blues, plant a tree indoor. Thanks for the visit ~

Gem
the yellow shell move
snail's pace towards the jewel
shining on the edge
meadow plain and bare,
reward of a long journey
a gem in his eyes
spirals of the sun,
quenching his wandering soul
thirsty for the sky

Flower of love
blue purple flowers grew
in dark room, corner edge
towering ceiling with large heads,
stems slender with lily like blooms
roots clustered to bloom fertility,
strong healthy children, a view
she believed
until one late summer, during a thunder
storm, she took pen, writing feverishly
faced with a choice, she chose
writing,
over having children

way and Flash Fiction Friday - For the G-man. Also shared with Poets United: choices.
Facts about this flower:
Agapanthus is considered to be both a magical and a medicinal plant, and the plant of fertility and pregnancy. Xhosa women use the roots to make prenatal medicine, and they make a necklace using the roots that they wear as a charm to bring healthy, strong babies. The Zulu use agapanthus to treat heart disease, paralysis, coughs, colds, chest pains and tightness. It is also used with other plants in various medicines taken during pregnancy to ensure healthy children, or to augment or induce labor. It is also used as a love charm and by people afraid of thunderstorms, and to ward off thunder.

Wallpaper
the day looks inviting,
spring bright and blooming
like pink magnolias and maple tree
by blue river way
unblemished by the winter cold,
gnawing the branches until the
leaves close their eyes, and
flutter ash white to the ground
untouched by the stormy wind,
cleaving the roots and tendrils into
barren dust, hibernating in
the womb of mother earth
sleeping deep, oblivious to
screeching of geese, scampering
squirrels, singing of wrens
i hear by the solitary window,
draped by grey curtain clouds,
hovering over the icy landscape
i gaze at thinning paper walls, lost
in magnolia petals and maple leaves

Dreamer
i soar up the sky
white is the colour of my dream
curled in ice crystal clouds
higher and bolder
black is the ink of my pen
circling the open fields, beyond
my brown wingspan, i touch
the wild azure, covering feathers
with gold dust and grains
star gazing, i sprawl
across the page, river edge
in red, green and blue
