i trace the moon's face with ink
darkness & starlight
- a stunning flower, a pearl-
thank you moon
i gather the blue from the sky,
the unburdened flights of gulls &
serenity of murmuring tides-
thank you lake
i click & tap on black keyboards
my hands are busy bees
hopping & gliding along excel sheets-
thank you work colleagues
i read the words of dead poets
as yellow daffodils rise & bloom (again)
as birdsongs fill the air (again)
thank you garden

Thank YOU, Grace, for sharing this work.
ReplyDeleteThank you... love the repetition... this is almost like a prayer... I giggled a bit on the thank you for the thank you relating to spreadsheets.

ReplyDeleteI particularly like the "excel sheets" reference, Grace, probably a first !
ReplyDeleteHi Grace, it's been a while since I've read your work. I am glad that I was able to read this one. Thank you for hosting. Your Black Keyboard and the Dead Poets rang bells here. This little 13 inch Dell is really slow coming around, it was Mrs. Jim's and she was disgusted with it. We do most of our computer work with the smart phones. My son gave me his computer because he did a lot of work in the dark or poorly lit areas and needed one with 'lighted keyboards'. I compose a lot with the old S8 Galaxy smart phone, more likely than not on the edge of the bed, waking or going to sleep. I started today's that way.
ReplyDeleteDead Poets, made me as you wished while writing, think of the classics. I like them also.
..
A much needed message.
ReplyDeleteGratitude is a sustaining thing in these times. You bring it to life here on the page, Grace.
