watching_protest march_

raindrops drip-drop-drip
on roof as i eat
words in safety of my home

but i know that smell-
streets crackling-exploding-burning
with tension-
                       firestorm

from afar

i wish you energy
as you walk and let your
                        voices be your drum-
beats, blistering thunder-
claps across
                        mutinous         sky

Posted for dVerse Poets Pub - Quadrille, a poem of 44 words, with the word, VOICE.   My poem is in support of the protest marches happening in other countries like Hong Kong and Russia.

  1. I agree... so brave with protest marches where the consequences are large, we may sit in the safety inside and never go out even if it's riskfree...

  2. Oh, MAN, do I ever love those "beats, blistering thunder-"

I love the shape of this, too. That firestorm, isolated. That broken mutinous sky.

  3. It’s many years since I last took part in a protest march, Grace, but I remember the
    ‘…smell-
    streets crackling-exploding-burning
    with tension-
    firestorm’
albeit from the safety of my home in the present. It is comforting to know that there are still people whose voices are their drumbeats.

  5. Protest is the only way to be heard whenever there is a lot at stake. Governments would all like to keep it in the family.

  7. This to me sounds like a trigger for someone who has been through violent revolution:
    "but i know that smell-
    streets crackling-exploding-burning
    with tension- "

  8. Voices being heard sure is key, if only many would listen sometimes.

  12. It takes courage to speak up and let ones voice be heard. Now, only if those in charge would just open their ears.

  21. You nailed it. I've been watching the struggle and strife in Hong Kong and other places. You've captured how it feel to watch from afar, rooting for the voices of the little guys.
