Three invisible things

I.

Where the leaves are still
as air and water
grows in darkness -
my breath, (in)visible -

II.

Where my palms are brittle
cold as snow drops, i close my eyes -
there's an invisible layer
the ink traces
& runs
where my words could not-

III.

Where my clothes are plain
my hair tied in bun
i am a bird with lightning feathers
i am the song, you can't catch

  1. I love all the aspects of invisibility... from the wonders of the forest to the difficulties to express something I feel is sorrow with those brittle hands to the last where I think invisibility is a shield to protect you...

  2. Great imagery - for me the ink melts and runs like ice water, the words are lost.

  3. This is beautiful invisibility, Grace, especially
    ‘…I close my eyes -
    there's an invisible layer
    the ink traces
    & runs
    where my words could not’
and the song that can’t be caught!

  4. The title and numbering. . . this made me think of a sort of folk tale-riddle.
So many beautiful lines: "the ink traces
    & runs
    where my words could not"
    And that last line, too!

  5. I very much like the image in the last stanza of the elusive lightning bird hidden inside the plain little brown bird.

  6. Incredible choices, Grace. Stanza 2 stands out to me; somehow I relate to it. Breath and love, both invisible, both essential for a full life.

  7. the first one, where darkness falls in the woods, there is something invisible that rises. you've thrown a net on it here with your words...

  13. I liked this 3-part work, and I espevially loved number lll Grace. It filled me with a sense of speed and energy, something so fast that it is invisible to the eye, even if in the opening two lines, the plainness manifested in invisibility. I am probably reading in things you didn't intend, but I really liked this piece... :-)

  18. A gem, Grace! I love,

    "the ink traces
    & runs
    where my words could not’
and "I am the song you can't catch"

  19. "Where my palms are brittle
    cold as snow drops"
These are the words that pulled me in the strongest. I feel cracked hands from the cold, and the zing of snow hitting skin (and the stark white of snowdrops.)
