I. time is a water jug
i forget
in a corner
II. time is a feather
cold, stripped from bone-
but warm as lilac ribbed-blanket
on your chest
III. time is a clay
molding me
until i learn
to unmold myself
IV. time is a lull
between raindrops
the pause, between letters
and musical notes
as my mind wanders
in ink, brush and pottery tool
V. time is the missing
eye, ear or finger
i lost in the journey
i may never retrieve it
but if i ever do,
i will carry it
sacred
into the dusk
VI. time is a tango
dance
with you-
always with you-

This I think is a perfect way to describe the complexity of time, so simple, but yet so complex in all it's way.
ReplyDeleteah the nuances of time........this is just wonderful! I love so many "pieces" of it. Especially the tango -- such a sultry dance! :)
ReplyDelete#IV reminds me of the Japanese concept of time or, the space between the notes...chinoa...Lovely set of poems on time.
ReplyDeleteWonderful in every way. I love that 4th one the best. This form works so well for the prompt--you've tempted me. Only time eludes me.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you have broken time into 'pieces' Grace. As Bjorn says, a perfect way to describe the complexity of time.
ReplyDeleteI love all of the 'pieces' but I find the first and the fourth especially stunning.
I love your six gems, but the tango is my favourite
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous, a half dozen parcels of time's infinite inexorable guises. I responded to #3, because introspection leads to insight & possible enlightenment.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful foray into pieces of time. So much to ponder in your exquisite writing.
ReplyDeleteI love your parcels of time, especially the 'lull between raindrops' and the wonderful 'tango dance'
ReplyDeleteA tango of time indeed as life takes seed
ReplyDeleteYou stuck gold with me at: "Time is a tango..."
ReplyDeleteThe series is quite lovely, but III and IV speak to directly to me.
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me of everything i forgot, lost or left behind. That's a perfect description of time. If only it could be the things completed :)
ReplyDeleteEach of these is very beautiful, and especially the closing one. Sigh. Loved this!
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful tribute to the beauty of time!!❤️ I so adore "time is a clay molding me until i learn to unmold myself" Sigh.. Beautifully penned❤️
ReplyDeleteLots of love,
Sanaa
Time, the great journey through space, multiple aspects to a physics phenomena that you have taken Grace and made into poetry.
ReplyDeleteI am nuts over these:
ReplyDelete"time is the missing
eye, ear or finger
i lost in the journey"
"time is a water jug
i forget
in a corner"
The third one is fascinating.

This is amazing Grace. I particularly love I and III.
ReplyDeleteInteresting look at time. Very poetic :)
ReplyDeletemolding me until I learn to unmold myself--a favorite of mine!!
ReplyDeleteWow, Grace, I'd say these verses are...well...timeless! Fourth is my fav :)
ReplyDeleteGrace, these pieces are beyond good...they are all spectacular. I honestly can't pick a favorite because each one speaks to me in a different but profound way. I have to say this: I wish I had written these.
ReplyDeleteI also realize these 'timeless' pieces are beautiful as individual pieces, but together? Wow. superb. Jane
ReplyDeleteReading this poem was a lull between the raindrops :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful imagery. This was lovely.
