raindrops on leaves
scattering of silver hues
sky is a
flight of sparrows
siege of herons
sunlight on trees
flickering of curry-fire
sand is a
gaggle of geese
muster of storks
waves against shore rocks,
white froth with solitude
unlaced, blue strings blue
i am good
in company of birds

Sometimes birds can be one's BEST company, I think, especially those who sing pleasant songs!
ReplyDeleteOh I do love the thought of those birds... they do bring life to our life don't they.
ReplyDeleteI think birds know something grand that we do not... this is lovely Grace! :-0
ReplyDeleteBirds can sure amuse, maybe why cats stare at them all day..or just lunch lol
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the company of birds and this is a lovely tribute to them.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, especially "I am good in company of birds".
ReplyDeleteI enjoy their company too. We have always kept bird feeders and we have so many zooming in and out throughout the day.
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible :D especially love the opening lines.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully executed.
Lots of love,
Sanaa
This one certainly takes flight, Grace! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteReads like a song, well done!
ReplyDeleteAn interesting imagery, Grace, which you paint, in your poem. Can feel myself, sitting lakeside, let Nature thrive, around all me.
ReplyDeleteI love your use of "siege," especially. And OH, this:
ReplyDelete"white froth with solitude
unlaced"
The Company of birds implies a connection doesn't it and I like that notion. Well done Grace, hope you are doing well today...
ReplyDeleteWee have too many starlings in our town, who gather on power lines & crap on cars. While at the WA coast, I'm always impressed by how successfully the crows bully the gulls.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful outdoor scene among the birds.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful glittering palette. And I loved that close.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, in company of birds...you paint with words that transport.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, nature all around.
ReplyDeletewhite froth with solitude
ReplyDeleteunlaced, blue strings blue

There is a sense of peace and harmony among chirping sounds. One can experience this in a bird park. Rightly so Grace!
Hank
Oh I do love this, Grace. Beautifully penned.
ReplyDeleteYou paint the most peaceful scenery with words. I love what you did here...
ReplyDelete"sky is a flight of sparrows..." and "sand is a gaggle of geese..."
The ending really touched me. I find so much serenity in bird watching.
Very peaceful. And what a picture!
ReplyDeleteI like the company you keep. And the verses you write.
ReplyDeleteyour piece tells me birds have souls,
ReplyDeletemeant to be suckled...
for they are nourishing...
I find them to be heralds, harlots and honorable
company...from the eye to shine spying divide watchtower caws of the ravens and crows...to these spill forward coveys of partridges in paraded seasons of low to the ground chaos...
and such wonderful smelling paints you've used...
I love this line: "flickering of curry-fire"
ReplyDeleteAnd the last stanza.
I am enthralled by "flicker of curry fire." What a fabulous description!
ReplyDeleteA very good read indeed......but I don't think I shall ever look at a campfire in the same way again.......that red orange is indeed the color of curry! Love it!
What a beautiful read!
ReplyDeleteI really like the flow of this and the imagery it invoke as I read it.
ReplyDeleteI like this!
