Stress-free

bubble me with tea bags &
cool black pearls

sip slowly, tongue tangling
with sugar-spiced ice cubes

sun has jellied all the snow  piles
& i am eager to burst

out to spring song, jiggling sky blue
pom poms,  even if out of tune

  1. Ooooo! My sis-in-love is Vietnamese, and this gave me a craving for the teas we go for when I visit her in the San Francisco area...though I don't like those little pearl guys. Texturally displeasing, for me. ;)

This line, on the other hand, is rich in both texture and tone:

    "jiggling sky blue
    pom poms"

    DELIGHTED by this.

    1. Oh man, me too. Big grins for this.
You are such a gorgeous writer, Grace! That opening couplet is the reason someone dreamed up poetry in the first place.

  10. My nieces told me about bubble tea years ago...they loved the stuff. I finally had the opportunity to try some at an Asian restaurant not long ago and didn't care for it. Love your fun poem though, Grace...really cute!

  12. There are just so many great word choices in this one. But, first, mmmmmmm....I love bubble tea (coconut...yummy). Your alliteration here is also yummy: "sip slowly, tongue tangling" and I really love, "sun has jellied all the snow piles." Love this whole thing :-)

  15. Lovely. It's been feeling like spring here in Saskatchewan, but we'll probably have a bit more winter before it's all over.
