Red Beach in Panjin, China
(Home to more than 236 types of birds)
I stand sea-swarmed under mauve rose sky-
white wings folded
Under black crowns
I crane towards autumn canvas
wet of morning
rain, cupped majestic
by crimson sun shimmering salty
grass ripe as cherries
Night beckons
Plumed bright of rubies & garnets
My skin quivers
Everything pulses vibrant
bold
red
the only color I know:
You

You have written this piece with the lightest touch, Grace. Such a gorgeous selection of words and interesting narrative viewpoint.
ReplyDeleteYes, you DO like your Friday Red, I see :). Happy weekend, Grace ~
ReplyDeleteOh, this is as beautiful as your picture. And just imagine, 236 types of birds!
ReplyDeletebeutifully described, as Kerry said... with the lightest touch..
ReplyDeletewhat is extraordinary about this picture in Panjin China is how it seems so distant
and extricated from the pollution in other provinces especially in the urban areas
gracias for this 'graceful' piece. Have a lovely weekend mi amiga
'beautifully'
DeleteLovely redness!!
ReplyDeleteI so agree with Kerry - so light. But as vibrant and beautiful as that amazing beach. The colors warm me, Grace. This is gorgeous. We've had a little snow, but it's the dull skies that make me feel the chill. Wishing you a glorious weekend.
ReplyDeleteYes, such grace. As a nature lover you honed in on just what was striking for me as well. I love the way your words trail down and focus in on "You." Beautiful.

ReplyDeleteBrilliant , the journey to 'you' so much colour and so vibrant.
ReplyDeleteGrace you write poetry of beauty and wonder as well as any I have ever read. I dislike comparisons myself so I will not dishonor you with any, only say this has a lovely tone to it.
ReplyDeleteFlaming red and of grand color hues. Beautifully written Grace and an equally grand ending.
ReplyDeleteHank
I love the way you've used the words, Grace, not obviously but subtly taking something like "crane" from the bird and using it as a verb. So very well done.
ReplyDeleteK
