A flower is up to you
a flower is sinless
a flower is a blossom that contains brilliant
a flower is easy to make into a cartoon
a flower is chosen
a flower is given its scent by nature
a flower is born
a flower is an evocation to silence through the mask of language
a flower is the story of a disturbed little girl who sacrifices everything
to preserve the only life she's ever known
a flower is a lonesome thing
~Posted for D'verse Poets Pub - Googlism - Selected from this word list ~
a flower is a thing of loveliness
the illumination of all the life that has preceded it
hold up a mirror to your soul to see your life more clearly; for in its shape-
a flower
is not just a flower
it's healing, also formed in garlic & chicken soup-
a beautiful thing:
a flower blooming

ReplyDeleteThat's a mystery to me, smiles ~ Thanks Bjorn ~
DeleteVery nice, Grace! I agree that a flower is a blossom that contains brilliant. Smiles!
ReplyDeleteI like that verse too when I read it Mary ~ Thanks ~
Deletean evocation of silence through mask of language...and the little girl line right after...omg....i need a better seed word than my name...ha....very cool....and a great pic too...
ReplyDeleteThanks to googlism,ha..ha.. ~
DeleteWell-done, Grace! I also like the line about the little girl.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Grace. I am ashamed of my pasta monster now ;)
ReplyDeleteVery special lines woven into something deeper than it seems at first glance.
ReplyDeleteI got lazy, Grace; just googled myself, and flew off in 30 directions; really liked what you did with this prompt; really rocked it, lady. Makes me want to pick another "subject" and google up another verse; smiles.
ReplyDeleteLove how each stanza seems to have it own overarching theme even though the phrases are so different. Great piece!
ReplyDeletea flower formed in garlic & chicken soup...this is cool.. you surely find them everywhere if you look with open eyes... nice...
ReplyDeleteA flower is a lonesome thing ... that's sad - and why I prefer to leave them in the ground with their friends ... smiles
ReplyDeleteFascinating. Makes me want to run back over and start entering nouns. The contrast of the two poems [mirroring?] is a bonus for us. Thank goodness for G-Man.
ReplyDeleteLeave it to you to find something immensely beautiful in a simple word search. Just lovely.
ReplyDeletea beautiful poem with a another layer written into the words....
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLove the layers in this.
ReplyDeletea flower is the heart of love and you have captured this wonderfully. Really beautiful
ReplyDeletelike steps that lead back on themselves ~
ReplyDeleteI like the "seed word" idea that everything else balloons out of, each a tiny parachute of its own. In the first I was surprised to end with loneliness, a little girl, but I liked it very much as a flower bridges some lonelinesses.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me happy~ Thank you Grace *smiles*
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely, Grace. I half-expected you to do Grace or Amazing Grace. I bet there's a long, long list for that.
ReplyDeleteWell I never thought of that ~ I will check it out ~ Thanks Victoria ~
DeleteLovely selection of words and phrases--you'd never guess they had their geneses in Googlism.
ReplyDeleteWhether lonesome or illumination - a flower is a powerful symbol. Love this!
ReplyDeleteWow... I never knew flowers as such...
ReplyDeleteTook to seed with your flowers indeed, bloomed away at your bay
ReplyDeleteWonderful!! I love the dark twist this takes with the line "a flower is the story of a disturbed little girl who sacrifices everything"! :-)
ReplyDeleteFlowers are amazing..the second line really does a flower justice..
ReplyDeleteGrace...
ReplyDeleteJust when you thought all the floral imagery has already been written
You take it to another level. I just LOVE it when you play....WoW!
Loved your Floral 55
Thanks for another classic...You Rock from Guelph to Timmins
Have a Kick Ass Week-End
Thanks G-man ~
DeleteVery elegantly penned flower poem...
ReplyDeleteIf the world was flower-less, I'd be so sad. I loved this. Interesting stuff shows up on these random google searches, but it takes a poet to craft something special out of it. :)
ReplyDelete:) flowery words:)
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! I love that you included the original word list, so you can see how much of this progression is your careful editing and craftsmanship. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteThat last line... So sad.
ReplyDeletethe flowers would be proud Grace ~ smiles ~ have a lovely weekend
ReplyDelete"a flower is a lonesome thing"
ReplyDeletekiller line, Grace! have a good weekend!
♥
A beautiful list, and a beautiful way to define something that could have been saccharine and cliched.I like the idea of a flower being sinless, too.
ReplyDeleteAnd there is no flower lovelier than a rose. I like the surprising reference to garlic and chicken soup. I picked a bouquet for my mother yesterday from the mums by her door and the lavender by the house, protected from the weather and the yarrow still in bloom under a bed of fallen leaves. It was the best thing I could do for her. Your poem made me think of that. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love where this word search took you. A flower is so many things...
ReplyDeletebeautiful and 'graceful'
ReplyDeleteGracias
I'm prone to contemplate flowers too.

You've certainly packed a lot of meaning into these few words. Both are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOne of my instant favorites of yours, Heaven. I especially like the ending on the first segment, but the entire thing is lovely, in bud, bloom and seed.
