If God Should Go On Strike

It's just a good thing God above
Has never gone on strike
Because He wasn't treated fair
Or found things He didn't like

If He ever once sat down and said
"That's it, I'm through,
I've had enough of those on earth
So this is what I'll do

I'll give my orders to the sun
Cut off your heat supply
And to the moon give no more light
And let the sea run dry

Then just to make it tough
And put the pressure on
I'll turn off the air and oxygen, till
Till every breath is gone"

Men say they want a better deal
And so on strike they go
But what a deal we've given God
To whom everything we owe

We don't care who we hurt or harm
To gain the things we like
But what a mess we'd all be in
If God should go on strike.

Author's Note:   Canada Post is still on strike.   No, it is not good but we are coping with it.   The longer it gets, you actually can find that you manage without it's services.

Happy Father's Day

I am free to be who I am, and be the person I want to be.

A special person who is part of who I am today is my Dad.

Happy special day to all the fathers including my hubby!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Make the best

When a door closes, another door opens.

Don't look at it as the end of the road but as a start of another adventure.

With grateful hearts for all our blessings

Full of sunshine

I was expecting a lot of sun and warm weather lately as it is summer.  But on some nights, it is still cold, along with the rain and dark clouds.

I guess that's the way life is...  you expect certain events and situations to happen, and sometimes it doesn't turn out to be like that.       This is applicable  to my life right now as I didn't get the job post I was applying for last week.  I was disappointed but I think I made the right decision to stretch myself to see what is out there.  I am thankful I do have a stable job and love the people I work with right now.   As to my recent exam results, I will know in about 2 weeks. Hopefully I pass, and I can move on to another challenge.

All in all, the past few days wasn't too bad.   I was expecting sunshine all the way through, but the rain has been good for Mother Earth.   I see the trees in their full splendour and the garden blooming with flowers (specially my red roses). Yes, life can be full of sunshine.

So, how was your week?   Hope you all have a good weekend ~

We are who we choose to be

This last week has been extraordinary for me.

Last Tuesday, I took my exam (Part 2) as part of my professional designation in my field.  I have been studying for the last weeks, so I hope I pass (and not pay the cost of the exam if I failed).

Last Friday, I had my interview for a job post in Toronto I had earlier applied to.   It was an internal job posting within my company but I have been looking out for such an opportunity 2 years ago.    The interview went well but I don't know if I pass the simple math test.   I felt inadequate just thinking I failed it.   Why did I even apply in the first place? Let me see, a challenging job, bigger pay and career promotion.   No harm in trying remember?

Oh well that is life.    You can't control the outcomes.   You can only do your best.

And being my best involves learning new things, stretching myself and keeping my mind sharp.

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer.   What have you been up to?

Perhaps and maybes

This coming June 25, we would be 6 years in Canada.    A lot things have happened when we first landed here, carrying our hopes and dreams for a better life for my children, and for my husband and myself.

We have survived the challenges that any immigrant faces - the bitter and cold winter months,  employment, jobs, passing the tests,  schools, taxes, home and just about finding our spot in this big and wonderful country.   We are now citizens and holding a Canadian passport which makes travelling a little bit easier.

Sometimes, my family and I would think about what life could have been, if we have not migrated.   My children were pampered and spoiled before, and never worked a day in their lives.  During the past years, my older children quickly grew up - working and studying at the same time, and learned to stand on their own.  My husband and I had a tougher time adjusting to the work environment but we also quickly "grew up".    There are some things we can do better, and there are some things we just have to accept.

Who knows what life could have been?   Maybe it would have been better, maybe it would have been worse if we did not move to Canada.    I don't know until now if we have made the right decision to burn our bridges, and just start anew in this country.   Because even if we have adjusted in Canada, there is nothing quite the feeling of home and belonging to one's native Motherland.   But I do know this -  I have no regrets being in Canada.   Though we continue to have our challenges,  we are blessed with so many things specially our children.   And for this, I am always thankful that we are where we are supposed to be -  together and enjoying God's blessings.

Hello summer~

Finally summer is here.   And what a blessing to have the warm weather, hot sun and bright sky.

The garden of flowers and the leaves in the trees are a sight to behold.  Knowing that we only

have a few months of this sunshine makes me appreciate  this beautiful weather.

Hope everyone is having a lovely week~
