Dreams

To spread my wings and sail
was what I wanted to do

To reach the rooftop on high
was where I wanted to climb

To ride the balloons and soar
was where I wanted to flee

But I didn't realize how far away
it was until I fell and hurt my knees

The deep blue sea winked at me,
as I pondered on my direction

Am I fated to be just a simple dreamer,
or to go forth with wind under my arms?

I didn't know myself until I slipped, tumbled,
collapsed, knocked over, along my journey

I thought I was the greatest skipper there is,
but I learned the best of me is still becoming.

My dreams await me,  take a look up the sky

Far away

Dear Tom,

You can't catch me now, ha..ha..
Far away from the house, you see
I was minding my own business
when a huge yellow and blue balloon
flew by the window.

It was so beautiful
wanted to touch it and fly away too.
You have always told me to
seize the day, and go for it.
So I hopped on a leaf, and sailed
on strings and ribbons of my dreams.

While I am away, please don't touch
the cheese bits I saved under the stairs.
And keep your eyes open for that dumb dog, Spike,
while you are outside, looking up for me.

Your buddy,

Jerry

Buried

buried under snow
dusty road looks pale and lost
trees shake in the cold

white falling snowflakes
veils the mud prints of journey
tomorrow, we walk

under covert sky,
we embrace winter's passing
sleeping in her arms

Gift of Poetry

soft cadence of words
music notes in my mind
one cold morning, unbidden

falls in my hands, like snowflakes
caressing the copper leaves
veiling lush forest in white dust

quiet time of reflection,
pulse to live fully in the moment,
before the winter past of regret

bury the sun freckled seeds
under dark hollowed trees,
unknowing of its potent spell

cautiously,
i open the poetry box
and let its spirit wring my soul

The itch to write came to me late last year.  After years of reading books, I was intrigued to try writing prose and poetry.   I am still learning the craft as I have no experience at all in writing, much less in poetry.    It take time for me to write (a torture I must admit) but the words have been flowing since I have learned to trust my muse.    The past months have been an exciting journey for me as I am trying out new forms and styles of writing.   Thanks for the visit.

Lighthouse

white space of silence
wraps the blue waters, colder
than winter's embrace

yonder the rocks edge,
lone sentinel stands erect,
waiting for lost ships

Light

rainbow of colours
dazzling light on angel's wings
spreading the good news

against the dark sky
bright rays of hope reaching out
inspiring spirits

energizing heart
until our light force flickers
bright and strong with love

Passage

steady rushing sound
water twirls, marches to beat
gateway to new lands

eagle wings soaring
ragged mountains in slumber
gentle solitude

ashes in the urn
scattered in river he loves
spirit soaring sky

Dreams

what dreams do you have
fair child of mine

your brown eyes twinkle
rivalling stars glowing in your room

your belly laughter peals
reading books on princesses, frogs and goats

do you know that treasures
are under your pillows every night

do you know that your hands
hold the magic key to unlock any doors

when you gaze up at the blue skies
believe you can fly like a bird if you want to

when you dwell upon wide open seas
imagine possibilities of being ship's captain

chase every rainbow in your childhood,
run after turtles and hares in all the races

every day is beautiful and precious,
and sharing your gifts mean blessings tenfold

i may not be the perfect mother all the time
but know this, i will always love and believe in you

Obsession

obsession with words
letters, phrases, syllables
to write perfect verse

racing against time
catching thoughts in mid-air flight
to rest in our hands

0~0~0

sand trickling hourglass,
every second counts as time,
won't wait nor tarry

moments carved in glass,
wrapping the past with colours
irreplaceable

on concrete walls; nature or

eagle wings dazzling
flight of heights soaring to
unknown destination

where to find the key
to unlock life's mystery?
if you know, tell me ~
