the long hands of daylight

stretches along fields,

bereft of green

foliage of spring

& wildflowers

winter is still dusting white

cracks of asphalt

but there's joy when light

shifts, collides & brushes the trees

not with weary shell

but with robust yellow-peach

strokes, glinting our eyes

with color

  2. Aww, I like the way the title seems to reach to unite with the first line. A beautiful touch. The "shift" is full of light and joy in your poem.

  3. I also feel the light coming first, we are still waiting for the green, but that light means so much more.

  6. It's always interesting how the senses capture change and then the eyes take the lead ..... it's how your poem opens up this change to the reader which is wonderfully done

  11. Yes. Especially after days and days of gray, those slivers of silver and gold can really shift one's attitude. Nicely portrayed here.

  15. lovely and hopeful, in a soft way - how the light shifts, slowly, inch by hue, and then we know for certain, spring is coming
