you prescribed me
walk by maple trees
slow dance by creek
look, the sun is holding
a ladle of soup
to ward off the blues
of autumn-
color the flowers
fiery red, marmalade gold- sum-
mer pulses, caught in your canvas-
scent of fresh geraniums
with burn of your kiss

I love love such a prescription... best bottle to have is that last sip of summer to last us through the darkness to come.
ReplyDeleteI think you chose the brightest of the pictures, Grace, and you’ve captured the colours in your bottle of summer! That prescription would cure anything!

I just wish I'd written that. What a great image. Love this poem, I'm sure I've said it before, but you write like an artist painting.
a bottle of summer - I know you wish you could carry it around to take sips from during the winter. "scent of fresh geraniums with burn of your kiss"...what a lovely way to end this colorful poem.
ReplyDeleteI like your nature as medicine theme, perfectly in line with the mission of the artist. Such a pretty painting and such vivid descriptors, Grace.
ReplyDeleteColors sure color the canvas as fall comes to be.
ReplyDeleteNice last line associating a kiss with a burn.
ReplyDeleteWish I could still walk by the maples and slow dance by the creek, but I can still savor autumn as you've bottled it. Great write!
ReplyDeleteI like how you brought in the sense of healing and the ending was a lovely surprise.
ReplyDeleteI like your prescription, I'd take a big dose of walking by maple trees and dancing by creek.
ReplyDeleteI really like this Grace!... A touch of summer to see us through the cold damp winter!
ReplyDeleteA rich word dance for a richly painted image.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful observations of the elements. Well crafted!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be a wondrous prescription to have in a bottle? But at least we have poetry and paintings--and dreams. Lovely images you create!

Love this!
A heady and aromatic poem; held together by the perfect title.
ReplyDeleteThe sun holding a ladle of soup is an intriguing image!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good recipe for any time of year.
ReplyDeleteI'm "in love" with your unique images, beginning with the title. And the whole idea of a prescription. Just perfect.
ReplyDeleteA prescription to warm the senses, for sure!
ReplyDeleteThis is the sort of prescription we all need. And uplifting write. 😀
ReplyDeleteso well done, Grace, esp. the 2nd stanza ~
