raw-
as seeds,
softened soil,
nurturing sky
hard thrusting of birth
sweat, blood & fears mingling
with joy... and the unknown looms
like giant tidal waves, you feel
the weight on your shoulders & though your
hands are gentle now, your eyes are all fire-

and Sunday's Mini-challenge by Hedgewitch - Etheree form ~ Happy weekend ~
Birth and children must be a theme this weekend. An incredible image. Thanks for introducing me to more artists.
ReplyDeletethere is a lot of life in this one...and energy as well...the thrusting up of new life....the joy and pain...nicely put together grace...smiles.
ReplyDeleteThis has a delicate potency, such as motherhood knows and mothers recognize. You have packed the form with emotion and done justice to both prompts.
ReplyDeleteA Mother takes so much of pain for her child and when she sees the child'd lovely face, she forgets every pain. Well done with the form.
ReplyDeleteI ageee Brian lots of life fo sho - cool use of hte form also.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant and so thoughtful. Fits perfectly with the image. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with this form, Heaven--it's hard to make it work so smoothly that you can't feel the nuts and bolts--thanks so much for participating, and for showing us all how it's done--(makes a nice concrete poem, too.)
ReplyDeleteI really like those closing lines!
ReplyDeleteA pain not for me, just the fun part at my sea haha
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy the etheree, and this one is so lovely, Grace, as is the image.

~ my faves. Love how strength and gentleness go together.
amazing. fire, water, and birth in one... and very well executed. I had a luscious time reading it out loud.
ReplyDelete"Though your hands are gentle now your eyes are all fire" I LOVE that and the rest...this particular part feels like more could be birthed here! Nicely done, Grace!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful piece about birth...the fierceness of a mother. Love the art also!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, you nailed it. The magic and power--and pure love--of being a mother.
ReplyDeleteThe poem builds beautifully to the dynamic contrast in the last line.
ReplyDeleteAn excellent response to the prompt.
ReplyDeletebeautiful capture!
ReplyDeleteNot knowing what the prompt was let me answer you this way Grace. I will all of the above even the push and pain equal to birth, my hands be thorny from working with them, but let my shoulders finally be free of weight and my eyes blaze nothing but peace. The fire I will share in my spirit with all who find my camp and are in need of warmth.
ReplyDeleteLovely poetic response Mark ~
Deletewow, your hands are soft now but your eyes are full of fire. just love that!
ReplyDeleteLovely description of motherhood.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pairing of poetry and art ....
ReplyDeleteAll encompassing Grace. I love particularly the last line. there are times when I feel like my eyes are on fire, and it is the most wonderful feeling in the world. Weather angry, happy, frustrated, when that happens I am all in just how it is meant to be, laying your real self on the line no matter who tries to extinguish the fire. Loved that you came out today....loved it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful creation.
