summer
my balcony of zinnias-
blooming pink, red and tangerine
an empty nest
amidst the birdsongs, i scatter the sun
flower seeds

How wonderful the summer bloom can be... I have the most amazing flowering tobacco on our balcony... your zinnias are wonderful
ReplyDeleteI love this sweet and simple cherita of summer that says it all, Grace. Empty nests are never easy.
ReplyDelete"I scatter the sun"-love that, Grace. I like the bittersweet quality here with the empty nest.
ReplyDeleteEverything summer reflects, Grace. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love your cherita, Grace, especially the line:
ReplyDeleteamidst the birdsongs, i scatter the sun
Luv the break between sun and flower seeds
ReplyDeleteMuch♡love
I never met a zinnia I didn't like. Empty nest takes some adjustment.
ReplyDeleteZinnas are my favorite. I like the empty next as a symbol of freedom and cycles.
ReplyDeleteI really liked your fun little poem, even though there is a tinge of sadness to it with the line “empty nest.” I know that pain only so well. Thank you for posting this.
ReplyDeleteCalm, peaceful summer with urgent intense feelings beneath...yes, the empty nest...so philosophical, like a new form of haiku a haijin might write and meditate on.
ReplyDeleteI, too, love the line "I scatter the sun."
ReplyDeleteYou have captured the beauty of summer blooms. I actually have a hanging basket with an empty nest. Some red finches made a home in it during the spring and now they are gone. I have left the nest in place in case one wanders back.
ReplyDeleteDelightful Grace! Pretty Zinnias and I am sure the birds helped with those sunflower seeds ☺️
ReplyDeleteBeautiful zinnias! I love that we both used tangerine in our poems.๐งก
ReplyDeleteHow lovely, how colourful; and how perfect the ambiguous break after 'sun'.
ReplyDeleteSo calming ๐
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem and zinnias, Grace. I love Zinnias. Mine grow six feet tall till the end of summer!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem and zinnias!
ReplyDeleteGrace, your “balcony of zinnias” feels so bright and full of life—I can almost see those colors spilling into the air.
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
