November morning
i shiver
my skin grows out from darkness
ghostly pale silvery moonglow turns
lightning hues of rose lavender blades
a blossoming of perfume
petals unfold, fingers of clouds & stardust
a beauty unimaginable
at the crack of dawn
i rise
raindew on my eyelids

ReplyDelete"my skin grows out from darkness"
LOVE that.
What a gorgeous description of dawn!
ReplyDeleteOh.. the glory of dawn... though to me in November it seems too sluggish to even get started....
ReplyDeleteHow lovely - rising into the light. I love those fingers of cloud and stardust. One of the best things about this time of year is the fact that you get to see the sunrise regularly. You capture that anticipation here.
ReplyDeleteA lovely poem. Encapsulating the delight of dawn in the winter along with the cold. Shivery but a nice shivery.
ReplyDeletethe dawn blossoming on skin, what a wondrous subject for a poem, Grace.

ReplyDeleteI’m so glad I’m reading your poem at the right time of day, Grace, this November morning! I love that it’s so immediate: written in the first person, starting with an active verb, and I feel that shiver. Your second stanza is my favourite description of the crack of dawn.
ReplyDeleteWow, beautiful imagery!
ReplyDeleteI love getting up at the crack of dawn!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful language describing the coming of dawn!
