Artist: Kathryn Dyche Dechario
Fragile
leaves, I’m a tree
unyielding, like a storm
I’ll not lay blame on changing
clouds,
nor the quickening sands, moulding
my hands
into pearls, layered hard, shiny -
Peel away skin at night:
blood, scars, fears- I’m
Fragile
Posted for Imaginary Garden for Real Toads - I am featuring the lovely work of Kathryn Dyche Dechairo. There's a give-away for those participating until OLN Monday. Thanks Kathryn !!!
there is a lot of strength in the trees as well....though they go through much and live in the fragile balance of nature there are those that live on strong well beyond...pretty cool...and i love kathryn's art...
ReplyDeleteThanks Brian ~
Deletehappy sunday grace...
DeleteGrace, love where you went with this. I gain so much strength from nature, particularly when I myself am feeling fragile. Thanks for using my artwork as your inspiration this week, I'm so excited to see everyone's entries.

Your work is always brimming with richness, Grace yet it all flows together so...gracefully. Beautiful writing and thank you so much for the introduction to Kathryn's work and for the great challenge!! :) Happy weekend to you!
ReplyDeleteFragile and yet lots of strength all at the same time
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful...fall is a fragile time yet is is the strength that lays a bed for spring to blossom from
ReplyDelete...we're all fragile in ev'ry sense....confidence & trust are what shape us to come out stronger beyond the known fragility... i loved this Grace... both theme & form... smiles...
ReplyDeleteWe are fragile; men and women have their own particular fragility even when they are outwardly strong. I agree with Sherry "I was most struck by the closing lines....peel away skin at night...I'm fragile. In those dark hours is when we feel it most." Lovely poem and the form was perfect for it.
ReplyDeleteI love this fragile strength. You really are grace-ful!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done, Grace. Yes, even fragility is a priceless treasure of immeasurable worth!

ReplyDeleteFragile, but not weak ... fragile leaves, becomes merely the top layer ....
ReplyDeleteYes it is possible to be strong as a tree and, at the same time, fragile! Enjoyed this poems unfolding!
ReplyDeleteI really admire how you this piece out with a concept and then define that....well done and viva la
ReplyDeleteLove the way you begin and come back to "fragile" with a pearl in the middle!
ReplyDeleteThe transition from the tree’s fragility to the writer’s was flawless—I love how it all pivoted on the quickening sands.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for introducing us to Kathryn’s art—so wonderful to read the multi textured pieces it has inspired.
Our strengths and weaknesses play the yin/yang of our existence. They coexist in balance! They are our building blocks, Grace! Well written!
