The book of wild flowers

You come
stealing the sun,
behind the bergamot
and tawny-ivy shrubs-

I twist
zigzag, stout-stemmed hips,
listening to the story of the grasses
& flowers that will not wait for snow-

You march by
shunning my thorns,
gossiping with the shallow daisies
& picking clusters of snowberries-

I employ the strong wind
to catch you in the meadows
so you may hear
the silent roar of the vast-

  1. This one seems so beautifully metaphorical to me. I interpreted it as a a lily in a field of roses...

  6. You wove quite the tapestry with many of the prompt words, Grace. Nicely done. I like the sense of relationship and flirtation you impart.

  9. Reminds me of chocolate: a moment on the lips, forever on stout-stemmed hips :-)

  12. Like everyone else said, a fantastic write. But my favorite part, because I cannot STAND talking behind someone's back, was the stab at the "gossiping of shallow daisies." I mean, what a phrase@ Gossip is one of the shallowest of pursuits. You nailed it, Grace. Peace, Amy
