January's blues

snowdrift hides dead flower shrubs and feathers

my hands are ice-numbed, knitted white, blued feathers

pine and fir trees weave their green lushness

lifting my spirits from gloom donning black feathers

sundial casts a long graceful shadow

while crescent moon rises with single feather

at year's end, it is not

the loudest

[bang-pop-bang]

that impacts me the most

it's the nicks,

slights, careless tossed words- jabbing

a growing crescendo

that knees me to fetal position

on the flip side-

it's not loudest cheers of devotion

but thoughtful & everyday gestures

that tugs my heartstrings

word play

what

is first born calling

add ever, it becomes an all weather response

with opening hands & long drawn sigh, a pregnant pause

but why

is the subversive sibling

making the sound a crunched fireball

ready to be curved-fisted & batty-hurled at great speed

at the end of road

when all flowers have withered

        black-smothered by north wind

when all leaves have fluttered

        brown-speckled to cold soil

promise me

you will still sing with gusto

        & dance with light-feet beats

keep your edges

        but remain gentle as rain

        & nourish moon-seeds of spring

lighter than air

when darkest of night come

or coldest of the hour seep

your skin to shivering blue

when loudest of silence

or biggest self-doubts stand

as black-eyed monster in path

remember the candlelight

inside you

allow forgiveness

allow a helping hand

bestowing, un-

bounding grace

summer's end

from seed, you grew tall

orange cupcake flower

i wanted you to bloom forever

but summer's end is here

[pause]

spin me out of summer blues

as flowers turn deep sun-blood

slow decay by wind chill-

dying/dyeing

ink, garden these verses

[within me]

brooding under our balcony

she should be crabby

over narrow space,

heat & falling bed

but robin sits

claiming her space,

brooding in silence

awaiting eggs to hatch

come rain or strong wind-

ignoring nosy neighbors-

her eyes steady as sun

casting softest of light

on blooming zinnias

here (this place)

is where dandelions and wild

flowers bloom

and where

red maple and lilacs rise to

greet the spring morning

hello yelllow!

is planted roots,

4 seasons

and city bursting & bustling

of hues, stories & languages

we're settled now

this place

we call

home!

February morning

in a canvas of white

maple trees are empty baskets

while pine trees are lush of cones

along ice-covered pathways-

such a grey dreary sight

yet with slight touch

of sunrise, rolling clouds,  blue sky,

the morning is leavened

by puffs of yellow-butter radiance

when nerves are fire

when i arrived

sky was dove grey

as your face, cloud-pinched

by pain

i wash your hands

fragile as crepe paper

soothing gentle words

believing

i give you relief

but torment is intense

your nerves are fire

you say,

being old is not fun

burning

you can turn red hot, an angry wildfire

on this autumn season

but the cool nights have prevailed

casting a soft brushed-golden light

on your skin

on your cheeks

browning

mellowing

slowing down

your pulse rate simmers to lethargic

wait

you bow to nature

autumn:  burning bush

anonymous (twitter) confessions, you

tell me

you're pining for midnight kiss,

on starless night

your hair brushed by wings of

fireflies

i'll smile (with emojis)

& listen to musings

& delusions

(uncensored)

don't blame me though

for your life's choices

i'm just a girl

with

(your)

confession account

song credits (to us)

we're blending the lyrics & notes

to strum of guitar riffs

you drunk-sway as goldfish in fish-

bowl

i play the piano (off)key

as soaked flowers

by summer rain

our faces are blue

with sweet refrains & kisses

bravely, we watermark the album

with our names

summer of calendula

i count more than 12 petals

sun-radiant, golden lemon bright,

red specks in the center

we are bee-struck over your

healing prowess

though your size is my palm

your willowy sway

in the breeze, safron scent of mint

and thyme

brings a joyful morning

under our sky

the forest is burning

(&)

you ask me a question

you will get an

answer

differently

(when I'm 40)

(when l'm 60)

last year or next year

because my present

is ever changing

as clouds in bleak smoked sky

as silkworms searching mulberry leaves

mapmaker

the orange plumed robin's

belly is heavy

sitting on twigged nest-

at top of willow tree

black raven shrills ((()))

returning as birds

to breeding & nurturing

as rain drips-drums-

there is timekeeper

and mapmaker (somewhere)

as maple trees spring

red-orange flowerets & emerald leaves

the long hands of daylight

stretches along fields,

bereft of green

foliage of spring

& wildflowers

winter is still dusting white

cracks of asphalt

but there's joy when light

shifts, collides & brushes the trees

not with weary shell

but with robust yellow-peach

strokes, glinting our eyes

with color

Thunderstruck

your words are thundersnow

to my sunflower hands

your passion is lightning

hammering the wind

i gasp at the intensity of your emotions

as the skyscape darkens, swells

for a moment, i'm iced blue

then melting

i revel in the moment

of storm's ardor

travel diary (+12 hr time difference)

i smell the green of tropical plants

under the unrelenting sun

humid air

perfumes

grilled seasoned meats,

rice rolled sweets, coconut-sugar treats

one scary note was

driving the car & sharing the road

with motorcycles bee-swarming

left and right-

you get roller coaster nightmare-

seeds for a successful harvest

 imagine:

a fruit from seed
sun-warm & greening from fresh rain

you nurture it everyday
with fervor of busy bees
each nod & nudge
celebration of small steps -

one small leaf
one flower blossoming
each tendril binding
to core of it all:

mother earth

Growing cucumber, herbs & other vegetables on my balcony
