January's blues

snowdrift hides dead flower shrubs and feathers

my hands are ice-numbed, knitted white, blued feathers

pine and fir trees weave their green lushness

lifting my spirits from gloom donning black feathers

sundial casts a long graceful shadow

while crescent moon rises with single feather

at year's end, it is not

the loudest

[bang-pop-bang]

that impacts me the most

it's the nicks,

slights, careless tossed words- jabbing

a growing crescendo

that knees me to fetal position

on the flip side-

it's not loudest cheers of devotion

but thoughtful & everyday gestures

that tugs my heartstrings

an unfinished book project

on shelf goes unnoticed

like brimed-sliced cucumbers you placed in pickle

jar

last summer

& last autumn,

there is still a jar of

home-grown dried calendula flowers in olive

oil-

you forgot to strain-

you wonder if your poems

are too mush-salty or

saffron-flowery

Unfinished home-made calendula oil project

i found (an escapade)

the lagoon

soft sands & shimmering

i lost track of time

forgetting how quickly this

turned to high tides, rocky-rolling

i swallowed salt & seaweeds

are my eyes jelly-red?

where's the boat?

the slumbering sea is now awake

hungry-pressed

for the moon's opaque eyes

under our sky

the forest is burning

(&)

you ask me a question

you will get an

answer

differently

(when I'm 40)

(when l'm 60)

last year or next year

because my present

is ever changing

as clouds in bleak smoked sky

as silkworms searching mulberry leaves

Thunderstruck

your words are thundersnow

to my sunflower hands

your passion is lightning

hammering the wind

i gasp at the intensity of your emotions

as the skyscape darkens, swells

for a moment, i'm iced blue

then melting

i revel in the moment

of storm's ardor

seeds for a successful harvest

 imagine:

a fruit from seed
sun-warm & greening from fresh rain

you nurture it everyday
with fervor of busy bees
each nod & nudge
celebration of small steps -

one small leaf
one flower blossoming
each tendril binding
to core of it all:

mother earth

Growing cucumber, herbs & other vegetables on my balcony
