October's spells

Autumn, what is my name

Autumn, what is my name

I am scatterseed, fruit of October

I am scatterseed, fruit of October

I am of Autumn's fruit, scatterseed

October, what is my name

Moon-scarred, I coax sunflower spells

Moon-scarred, I coax sunflower spells

Cleave me to light

Cleave me to light

Spells cleave me to sunflower

I coax light, moon-scarred

Darkness is a  cocoon wrapping the night

Darkness is a  cocoon wrapping the night

Making me soft as milkwitch

Making me soft as milkwitch

The night is making me soft as milkwitch

Wrapping darkness, a cocoon

Autumn spells I coax - scatterseed, moon-

scarred sunflower in October

What light cleave me, I am

Of soft fruit of darkness, I am

Making a cocoon, wrapping the night

Milkwitch is my name

under the painting of strawberry pink moon, you

write me

bass drum robust lyrics

heart pounding swaying beat

moving limbs to salsa

then a slow saxophone mood

scooping blues & easy guitar riffs

spooning us to drowsiness, a spell

we add running-out-of-time kisses,

shiver of throbbing sun

in this cozy windowless room

Under the spell of the Pink Moon

Pink moon, rising above the Great Lake

Blue our sun-freckled faces with waves

Soft as lavender, we are star lights

Pink moon, rising above the Great Lake

Draw care & patience on our hands

We are red-berried by nectar & bees

Pink moon above the Great Lake

Lavish our words with joyful birdsongs

We are wildflowers, lush & lusty

*Great Lake - refers to our Ontario Lake.   We visit the lakeshore every weekend.

August moon

Half moon, cradle of shadows and light
Needle our eyes to star-burst night
Thump our chests, mired in hemlock & brine

Half moon, cradle of shadows and light
Draw green corn and grain on our palms
Our eyes are blinded by red summer haze

Half moon, cradle of shadows and light
May we fish abundantly in lakes
As tides bow, searching for your fullness

Late January spell

Half moon, cradle of shadows and light
Needle our eyes to star-burst night
Thump our chests, mired in hemlock & brine
Half moon, cradle of shadows and light
Draw amber and seeds on our palms
We long for sunshine and rain clouds
