my e-calendar 2023

I fill my work calendar with big stones. I organize my activities and set my career goals for 2023.  Family's birthdays and other milestones are colored in spring green.  Also my timetable for vacations & personal days from work are marked  in bright pink.    That block of time is precious, like a gift to be carefully unwrapped, slowly after each tear.

However for my personal life's goal, the calendar is open.   I welcome the blankness of the canvas because it means new things and challenges for me.  Though I am keen on regularly walking, hiking and reading in my down time,  I invite time to ghost me, while I ponder on my verses & mystery of the night sky.

mud-stained sky is glum

melting ice by craggy shore-

birds glide, swelling tide

Resolutions

Chain by chain
block by block
there's light underfoot
& above
& sideways

Seeping into each crack
as rain
as canvas, clean & startling
as dawn, awakening trees after
ice storm with a gentle brush of yellow
along its bent brittle limbs

Weave and weave
knot and knot
gather, refract, pour, mirror, cast
light
even hidden from your eyes
each wave & particle, a seed
resilient &
beautiful as you

May your 2014 be full of light !!!

New Year Wishes

a cheer for you
i would tow

a smile for you
i would throw

a lighter care
i would cast

a deeper love
i would catch

a harvest of words
kind and hopeful

a basket of songs
joyful and true

along sandy shores
a  journey's  peace,
this day and tomorrow

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

Ring out the Old, ring in the New

tick tock tick tock

my book is open, bookmarked page
I had wanted to read but until now
awaits for my attention, so fleeting

my pen lies on my table, as it has been
for the last months, still humming the
lyrics of the song in my head, unsung

my recipe book is dusty in kitchen shelf
papers hurriedly torn, pressed tight amidst
the jars, waiting for my yellow apron

tick tock tick tock

the heavy snow fall after Christmas Day
reminds me of the season’s swift passing,
burying festive wrappers, in a blink of an eye

as the year comes closer to the end,
I see unmarked days,  unopened letters,
as well as exclamation points, and smiley faces

a good and fruitful year, despite sad autumn
and short summer, new and old friends keeping
company, while meeting challenges head on

the sparklers and blow horn are ready
for new year’s eve, a countdown louder than
church bell’s tower in downtown square

yes, I am all set to turn the page,
write my words, try new dishes to cook,
watch ice hockey games, shake more hands

tick tock tick tock

Happy New Year !!!!
