Echoes

late summer-
your face is a candle, fading
in echoes of raindrops

Narcissus & Echo - by John William Waterhouse

Upon pool of water, I gaze
Daze
Your face, a perfect moon
Swoon
Swaddled of brightest starlight
Light

Enchanted, I say, Hello?
           Woe
I swear to your beauty, delicate as snow
           No
I will bestow
           No
All my strength and devotion
           Delusion
Why do you shun my presence?
           Vengeance
Are not my smiles charming?
           Boring
Are not my words persuasive?
           Repulsive
Please let me stay here
           Where?
At your feet, where my devotion lies
           Lies
You are my muse, your name echoes
           Gallows
Within me, dulcet
           Horseshit
Until I know that you love
           Rust
Me, I will deeply grieve
           Freeze
Do you believe me?
           Leave me
You are breaking me, I will die.
           Bye.

Haiku: The bamboo forest

This photo of Arashiyama is courtesy of TripAdvisor
 Bamboo Forest in Arashiyama, Japan

gentle sway of breeze
brush of bamboo leaves - music
strings the night in gold

~0~0~0~

above lantern lights
moon sparkles like diamond,
beating steadfast heart

~0~0~0~

my mother tells me:
grow upright like a bamboo
& nourish your sons

Letters

                                      vintage pages
                                      scenting of autumn's pines--
                                      grandma's words echo like bells

                                                            ~0~0~

                                                            calligraphy
                                                            on torn pages --
                                                            canvas of a stormy sky

Hopes for the land

snow melts
prairie of amber & fiery ash--
charred,  roots awaken

(Wiki Photograph of Pulsatilla patens growing in Boulder, Colorado.)

~0~0~

sun pulses
the grassland in sepia and and emptiness--
hope blooms in blues

~0~0~

(due to recent news in USA)

blood-inked stains
on broken blue & pink crayons --
the barren sky weeps

Haiku Heights - Pain

maple tree,
bare of leaves and children's voices,
listens as the bell tolls

     Grace @ Everyday Amazing

~0~0~

the night stings-
hornets swarming the sky-
 empty of your blooms

Storm

white veined hands
tear the lilac sky into pieces -
thousand candles fell

Late Night Nebraska Thunderstorms

her eyes --
blooms  of darkest violet --
kept secrets

Desert

Namib Desert by Bernhard Edmaier

above eagle eyes,
the desert stretches and weaves -
empty burlap sack

~0~0~

fire-streaked sands
follow the wind-swept sky -
fine as silk-stitched blooms

~0~0~

once lush and ample
of fruits and blooms, she sleeps -
weary old woman

Silent forest

morning light
sparkles the rushing river --
restless feet on unmarked trail

~0~0~

maple trees bow
in silent prayer as
black scarred leaves float by

~0~0~

hush of pine forests
with first blush of winter frost --
face of bride in lace

~0~0~

forest trees heave
in sigh of fading footsteps --
white silence is music

The storm

flash of lightning
as winds flee in haste -
tempest of woman scorned

~0~0

pouring rain
sharp pointed as knives -
oak trees fall in surrender

~0~0

stormy skies:
mighty wrecking ball,
yet fleeting as blue butterflies

a Zen moment

i inhale
slow gathering of green and red blooms,
rising sun

~0~0~

i exhale
choking shadows and grey clouds,
 empty bird cage

~0~0~

i cluster
all the decaying golden leaves,
seeded poems

Leaves of autumn

Grace @ Everyday Amazing - beside our house

autumn leaves
cover the ground - soft carpet
of afternoon sky

~0~0~

cool wind gathers
pine cones and green needles,
warm bed for winter

~0~0~

maple tree
shiver in dress of dying colors -
she dreams of tulips

Pink blooms

© Joy Ann Jones

enamoured:
yellow bee tangled in her
flowered-pink skirt

~0~0~

pink petals
falling one by one,
i come unhinged -

~0~0~

broken, her words flew
across mud-stained walls - still
softest blooms

Sleep

your words like
warm chocolate cup,
evening lullaby

~0~0~

your lips tasting of cinnamon,
turns me into a
restless tide

~0~0~

folding wings,
you nestle close to me -
black butterfly

Pears

For Haiku Heights:  Paradox

three golden pears
unwashed, untouched, unpared dessert;
she wanted apples

For Real Toads:   Sevenling (Pears)

in the fading light, he clings to her image:
autumn leaves falling on hair,
ripe pear cheeks and laughing eyes

in the kitchen, she slices the fruits,
soaking them with spiced red wine and sugar
concoction, and drizzling cinnamon dust

beside the homecoming dish, she waits for the call

Street Art

splashing colors,
wall comes alive with stories,
haunting stormy sky

~0~0~

in the fading light,
he paints his soul on the wall,
flaming dragon

~0~0~

red and blue oils
mingle with sweat and dust:
art for everyday man

Update:   I am pleased to announce that this poem has been included in the Second Issue of Nain Rouge.

Bittersweet

her love poems,
sweeter than lemon cake
topped with fresh strawberries

~0~0~

his parting words
grated like lemon rinds on cake,
bittersweet fruit

~0~0~

chocolate dessert,
warm as honey, drips slowly
her hardened heart

Pepper

her laughter
like black whole pepper,
crinkled over bowl of noodles

~0~0~0

his lecture
woke up the sleepy audience,
slice of orange zest

~0~0~0

spicy sauce
dotted the conversation,
as a lace strap falls

this rainy day

                                                                        M. Bednar

i  hang blue plates
on wooden twines: shiny, unbroken
unlike me

~0~0~

grief came in a small jug
empty of spice, but on my neck
heavy stone

~0~0~

rain washed
morning in salmon and teal,
but for coffee mug, stained of you

Update:   I am pleased to announce that this poem has been selected for Emerge Literary Journal - Fall 2013 Issue.

Moon

Photography Credit:   Reena of Missing Moments

moon-lit night,
dazzling symphony
of light and shadows

~0~0~

concert park
echoed the soulful strings,
the moon wept

~0~0~

she adores the sun
swaying yellow petals in wind,
the blue moon

Loneliness

                                                          Gull Lake @ Everyday Amazing

blue waves
couldn't break ancient stones,
filled with sadness

~0~0~0

cries by seagulls
ripple the serene lake,
empty of boats

~0~0~0

leave me here
on island stones by dawn:
hollowed tree
