Tree of sunshine

yellow, bright as sun's cheeks
was the color on the wall,

until you smeared it cloudy gray

scrubbing, peeling it away
i could not, in my blue winter coat

so i took a bulb of onion tears,
and potted it with black manure

the tree grew fragrant white blossoms,
lighting up my kitchen of shine

bearing lemons, sweet and juicy
spilling spring on my lap,  green

curtains on my window, yellow
all through snow splattered days

New Year Wishes

a cheer for you
i would tow

a smile for you
i would throw

a lighter care
i would cast

a deeper love
i would catch

a harvest of words
kind and hopeful

a basket of songs
joyful and true

along sandy shores
a  journey's  peace,
this day and tomorrow

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

Far away

Dear Tom,

You can't catch me now, ha..ha..
Far away from the house, you see
I was minding my own business
when a huge yellow and blue balloon
flew by the window.

It was so beautiful
wanted to touch it and fly away too.
You have always told me to
seize the day, and go for it.
So I hopped on a leaf, and sailed
on strings and ribbons of my dreams.

While I am away, please don't touch
the cheese bits I saved under the stairs.
And keep your eyes open for that dumb dog, Spike,
while you are outside, looking up for me.

Your buddy,

Jerry

Dreams

what dreams do you have
fair child of mine

your brown eyes twinkle
rivalling stars glowing in your room

your belly laughter peals
reading books on princesses, frogs and goats

do you know that treasures
are under your pillows every night

do you know that your hands
hold the magic key to unlock any doors

when you gaze up at the blue skies
believe you can fly like a bird if you want to

when you dwell upon wide open seas
imagine possibilities of being ship's captain

chase every rainbow in your childhood,
run after turtles and hares in all the races

every day is beautiful and precious,
and sharing your gifts mean blessings tenfold

i may not be the perfect mother all the time
but know this, i will always love and believe in you
