the kiss

the night sky is blushing with secrets-

slow rise of the full moon by seagrass

smell of tides & milk flowers turning red

my lungs on fire, spinning words on my head

(kiss me)  we're running out of breath and time

my skin tingles from the salted margarita limes

your lips swoop down, dizzy as a bee

a kiss so soft as velvet, or was it an earnest plea

for a promise of something more, elusive

yet rain-soothing & kiss-smothered by flowers

you will paint me, you say, with marmalade

sun on my hair, my wrists jaggling with jade

your stolen kiss is a sonnet i slow dance

inviting my words to unfold & take a chance

Under Gothic Lights

Your perfume is black orchid of sadness

Enticing my shadows, rhapsody of madness

I shimmer into your quicksand of scars

Blood ink-stained verses drip, my hands are shears

wholly competing for your moon-starved eyes, I'm

falling over your reckless mountains & dunes of desire

Above, stars are pelting unicorn's lights

Sky is castle of doomsday chaos in our sighs

We hear our hearts beat as birds of prey

Circling in unison - magic - in the fray

Our mouths are filled with dead flowers

And tumbleweeds, caressing stolen hours

Love, let's lie together, stroked (stroking)

in our failing universe, ash-smoked (smoking)

of tangerine dreams

i see your smile, shy-tangerine grin
behind the crab apple tree, sunset-stilled
you move slowly to pluck the ripe
bearing fruits, licked by summer rain

i taste wine & olives as i walk towards you
but you're turning to a blur, mist of clouds
my feet are turning to quicksand as
you fade away, dreamscape in a fog-

how quickly i forget, time has hidden you
from me- you, fiery fire of my canvas-
you, deepest blue lake of my thoughts-

every night, even with my eyes closed
i can trace your face with my fingertips,
my love, sleep, until we meet again-
