Emerald eyes of spring

Call me, I have emerald eyes

Watching the pink lilacs blooming

Under the glossy silver sky

Green buds are preening & swooning

Red flowerettes bloom - a marvel

Call me, I have emerald eyes

Brimming with spring steps so cheerful

Without wiles, witchweeds or guises

I scatter seeds, saplings arise

Under the bright sun's long hours

Call me, I have emerald eyes

Tying colorful wildflowers

Gathering pinecones, I pen words

Under maple tree, sweet as pie

This is where I'll be - heeding birds

Calling me with emerald eyes

A Painter Without A Brush

the brush is a mongrel moon

a sop of soap stone, lump of foolish

grains in my hands, grey from winter

my fingertips are callous

unfeeling of any rhythm on canvas

i am slumbering shadow of dust

among the fine selections of books in garden

the sun brings a jingle of spring's eyes

as bouquet of wildflowers for the first

time & i am enamored with torrential clouds

of hues, shapes & hollows & tangent of words, whorls

of verses, as if famished, i drink it slowly

colors infuse & thrum, sharp as limes & lemons

my lips are basted by magenta & saffron spice

uncorked, honeycomb drips unabashed on ground

bees alight in morning blush of dewdrop

as if i am apricot tulip, budding rosy

a new day, i

am

Yellowness of our days

The color yellow brightens my day.   Brings me sunshine, sunflowers and carefree balloons even when a sudden storm would dampen our bright sunny days.   The child in me is happy, walking with a spring in my step.

Spring is my favorite season.  And for the first time in a long while, I nurtured perrennial blooms and several herbs like rosemary, basil, thyme, mint-orange, lemon grass and chives.   I love cutting the herbs fresh and adding them in my cooking.   I also learned how to regrow them indoors so my supply does not ran out.  When I eat my herbed-drizzled food, I taste earth's gifts and magic of the sun.

sky is serving a plate-
daffodils, dandelions
with bluebells & birdsongs

cake

i watch rain clouds roil the sky
then knead & butter the soil

birds and small creatures honey-
comb & sword-peck on seeds, grains

it's a feast-
specially the cake's throne topper-

spring maiden rules
dotting dandelions, daffodils, daisies

i soup & eat
slowly, richly

Dreamers

Time to Bloom by Cheryl Kellar

Cocooned in silk, white spear buds
appear on cherry tree & suddenly spring
is a grain on my palm -

Shape of the long ship
Sleeve of giant canvas
Crest of the uncharted river

Dreams, like flowers do,
standing at the altar
testifying
Yes, I live & breathe in colors -

Red orange, the halo of rising sun
Red velvet, the sugar feast
Red wine, the color of petals
Red henna, the ink of my pen

In my pouch
Pair of birds
Pair of dragons
Pair of sea-horses
Perhaps I am over-dreaming?

Green forest, untouched by roads
Green tea, warming the beggar's cold hands
Ever-green sea, teeming of fish & shells
Emerald gems, innocence of children

Here is my bouquet of songs
Here is my jar of crayons
A wisp
A cloud-string
I close my eyes
& dive into the wind-

mill of the new day-

Pretty in pink

sun spray paints my skin

not azure nor golden tan

but hot pink among the poppy reds

carnations, lavender, roses & baby pink

staining tiles, walls, sheets, every happy part of me

because it is springtime & everything looks

soft as an unfurling leaf, overflowing

with  blossom-seeds

i stretch pretty in

pink, embracing

 beautiful

season

Colors of spring

late afternoon sun glints mellow yolk
on lime green grass

              fawn lilies, creamy white
              fiesta poppies, burnt copper gold

winter ice recedes, grim ash & bloodless
and now a million flowering bulbs

             starry five petaled primroses
             yellow buttercups, daisies

peek & open,  a concert rifes the air
songs burst in carnival joy rides, drunk with wine

             daffodils, deep orange
             cherry lips pansies

bumblebees are wild with taste of nectar
& trees become heavy with fruits -

             violets & plump geraniums
             cherry blossoms & blue cornflowers

peaches, strawberries, berries- this season
unfurls hungry for dewdrops & reach of clouds

             yellow trillium & marigolds
lilacs of palest lavender & mauve

& i rise to the perfume of flowers
my body's a fountain, a sprawling sky

             lush of colors
             as spring surges in me
