travel notes

empty

my pockets are

not, not when red leaves fall

on fern-bogged trails, my hands gather

feathers,

pinecones,

blue-green river

tides, snow-capped mountains, trees,

birdsongs, sky's blue, my chest swelling-

joy-packed

Beautiful darkness

Grace @ EverydayAmazing

shiver -
the wind passes
cold as blue moon, sharply
weaving the night to beautiful
darkness

i lay
vulnerable -
frayed & wind-tattered, i
should be afraid of what's coming
instead

silence -
a crescendo
of heartbeats & gulls cries
engulfs me in peace, beautiful
(amidst) chaos

And Flash Fiction Friday for G-man (55 shivering words) :

We walked briskly, under shivering light of the blue moon.  Where once we were proud as eagles soaring near the sun, we now move like angels in the beautiful darkness.   Perhaps its the silence, a crescendo of heart beats we're seeking, but beautiful is what we find amidst the chaos of the city's underground ruins.

A lesson from the sands

Grace @ Everyday Amazing

the sands-

scooped, patted
into shape:   a temple
rises under the sun - then falls

like dust

the wind

carries its weight
like a seed, shifting all:
cement, steel, roof, words - nothing stays

the same

The father's eyes

i'm shy
as a turtle
under this shell, i'll  hide
from everyone, yet you always

see me

I don't want to come out to play. Photo by Jenn Jilks

you held
me in your hand,
there's a twinkle in your
eyes:   pride, joy, a tinge of sadness -

i'm awed

The night

Photo by Grace @ Everyday Amazing

the night
brings the restless
words into open:  raw
as pitted seeds, bare bones, grieving

of you -

One sunny afternoon

white boat
tugs the children:
let us sail to the sea--
treasures await us.  the sky calls-
bluest

of clouds,
cradling waters
warmed by shells, weeds & crabs-
buoying the children on its womb,
they're off--

into another world

Grace @ Everyday Amazing

Running
into the woods -
pine cones crunch, twigs snap, leaves-
a soft carpet, a bird trills and -
  I'm lost-

Wordsworth Quote:

“Books! tis a dull and endless strife:
Come, hear the woodland linnet,
How sweet his music! on my life,
There's more of wisdom in it.”

Graffiti art

Graffiti art in Kensington Market, Toronto
Grace @ Everyday Amazing

draw here:
happy face, round
as lollipops, merry
as can be, with a brash note - i
was here

~0~0~
And this is for Kay's Sunday Challenge:

put your
smile & red nose -
play the fool till they laugh
chasing tears & fears away, be
a clown

Posted for Imaginary Garden with Real Toads -OpenLinkNight and  Sunday's Challenge - My memories of clowns are happy ones, specially attending children's parties and hosting parties for my children when they were young.

We visited the Kensington Market yesterday, Sunday and had fun checking out eclectic, vintage and international stuff.   A good day to be out and about, though it's still cold here.   Happy day to everyone ~

lighted path

Grace @ Everyday Amazing

gift me
a winding path
where no footprints nor twine
can restrain my verses, broken
& true

                 cast me
                 without shadows
                 to fear unlike puppets
                 in theatre, silver-masked, hollowed
                 & less

                                          steer me
                                          closer to light
where leaves breathe and the wind
runs like a free bird, majestic
                                          & healed
