Helianthus annuus
you shape my face
by light
you spice my lips
of storms
my stem reaches to sky
wrinkling gradient of darkness
to brightest shades
you fill my cheeks
of seeds & quills in
perfect symmetry & florets
in swirling harmony-
a flower, cluster of flowers, crown
of flowering spirals, bouquets of sun-
shine
for you-

s p a c e s
you keep filling pages
with words
gridlines
& quotes
i see the slant of setting sun on winterfrost
and small birds spiralling out
at slightest sound
time is slow burn
stretching unscarfing in
quietude of evenings
here are spaces within me
that are
just

February
The bones are still canvas
knuckled & chaffed dry by winter chill
Not a leaf, not a petal tarries by
only the roots hidden deep, knits
the pattern of light & shadows
the memories of fullness of moon
as seeds dream of sweetest fruits
and vines drape their fingertips on empty husks
I trace the chords of
maddening clouds & tumult of dying sun
There's a grumble of hysteria underground
I can't wait to scent the delirium of first blooming

secrets of the moon
the night draws its own
delicate calligraphy on velvet sky
the flock of birds follow the invisible
lines, bows and arcs
i roll over the letters
wafer thin as fading leaves & catch
the breeze of winter ice & maple trees-
what is hollowed, whitened out blank page
expands and surges out with fullness-
though i try, i can never grasp
the moment's infiniteness
the perfect arrangement of words
and that may be a good thing
lost in mystery
you rub stardust on my palms
and whisper your secrets
to the moon

(again)
you
are the opaline clouds
salty foam from the roar of the ocean waves
beating my wild moon heart
and if i have to choose
you (again)
i'll embrace your dewdrops
absorb your words as rain
and brush your ash over my singed skin

snow moon
your kiss is a sonnet
wild juniper berries in tonic
from your heartbeat
you give me garden of verses
unrhymed poetry, earnest light
moon tides, my lungs on fire, milk flowers turn red

when the muse is in/out of sync with the moon-
i got passionfruit
road-raging my throat
i want to spit it out
a drake-inspired pop song
or a gluten free vegan cake
by Rashmi's Bakery
but instead it goes down
my bile & belly, ignites
all my anxieties, stirs up
seasonal blues as crystal moon
rises from the seawater
& muse, earth-bound
splutters ink, burns the air
with bright bluish green flames-
zinc
of all my silvery dreams

a Christmas gift
Muffle out the mean tweets
Mute the offensive comments
Cleanse the eyes from viral hate
Stay off social media, it's not too late
Listen to bird songs & buzzing bees
As winter storm brings deep freeze
Breathe in fresh pines & scented candles
Curl into the warmth of the blankets & carol

last quarter moon
maple trees are
white-coated as clouds
while strings of christmas
lights sway to chilly wind
windows are darkening
their frames
the room becomes soft
pixel-dusted by starlight
i lean in
our eyes
catch the moon tide,
glowing
& you turn, keening to your
darkness

December days
i don't measure the days
white-ashed clouds & snow
piles up my garden
& ghosts the nights of faded ink
instead i marvel at every
sunrise, hint of savage pink
crowing gloriously of spring songs
& beat of your nectarine heart
in the wild abandon of the dance
