i. monday
white is the color
of regret, an un-
painted bowl left on table
ii. tuesday
i am color-
less sheet of blue static-
-unsent messages
-unfinished thoughts
iii. wednesday
i can eat the sun-
flowers all day, but my
tongue is dragon fruit -
coloring the rain water pink
iv. thursday
it must be the sand
or the sandpipers
how else can my mornings
be joy-struck, bicolored musings of sky
vi.friday
i walk these city streets
and see different shades of color
from skin to hair to eyes-
i do not pretend to be colorblind
your story is different from mine
but it is the same ocean tides that
powers your lungs & mine to go out
there & protest & march-
vii.satuday
i read the
books & albums
as if they sugar candies-
it was sticky with colorful memories
of the past
though its all in black and white
viii.sunday
and what of black?
it is erasure
it is sacrifice
not a color lacking
a seed

I love the small poems for each book, a novel way that I feel smells of blackbirds :-) each day a color.... really cool
ReplyDeleteWe each have a different pallete for our book of days. How lovely and lvely to fan out the marching colors (and orders) for each.
ReplyDeleteSo beautifully constructed Grace 🙌
ReplyDeleteGrace, I love the colors and how magical the imagery becomes. The synesthesia is perfect for short form syllabic poetry. Love these!
ReplyDeleteIncredible stanzas
ReplyDeleteMuch♡love
I like what you have done with each segment, Grace!
ReplyDeleteI especially like your first stanza, even though it is the one with the least color. Love them all, though....
ReplyDeleteI loved the colour of your days. My favourite day of the week was Wednesday, sounds glorious. Thursday and then the power of Friday. Wonderfully done Grace. :)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea executed amazingly!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderfully clever to provide a 'week in the life of Kim' ~~~ each of the week days a different energy, message, color. I want to tag along with you on the Friday meanderings ....
ReplyDeleteI love how these shot poems work as a week of--all the color or lack of. Your line breaks are so clever, too!
