Sun Photography by Alan Friedman
Sun
Star, you're the faithful one
stirring our eyes to fire
shaping seeds to ripe fruits.
Speak to us as a sage:
steadfast, calm, so we may
swaddle your heat through each
sky storm splitting the land

Moon Photography by Alan Friedman
Moon
Moon, cast your magic spell-
moonshine above the trees
milk pearled, dreamt by poets
marveling you. Some nights
myth turns you to a monk
meandering the space
muting the sky, stone grey.

:) Ah! both the poem are amazing as always. Really like the wisdom we take from the sun and how the moon will always be an inspiration to all the poets.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for you lovely participation.
ah...the essence of the sun & the moon...a beautiful offer...
ReplyDeleteNot forgetting both for what they are. Life's wonders that support life on earth! Wonderful new form Grace!

Is amazing like the sun and the moon are really part of our lives!
ReplyDeleteIn all!!(I wanna say influye but I dont remember the english word)
beautiful Grace!
Beautiful.. A great set - the moon in particular.
ReplyDeleteAh, brother sun and sister moon ... see not much of her, and a lot of him these days ... that comes from working nights ... Love, cat.
ReplyDelete... him ... her ... or is it the other way around? ... ghee, I must be tired ... :)
DeleteWhichever way works for you ~
Deletesmiles, thanks for the comment c ~
swaddle your heat through each sky storm...ha...i like the way that sounds coming off the tongue...lovely description of the moon as well....nice pairing grace....you made this look easy....
ReplyDeleteLoved this. Both the Sun & Moon wise in their own rights and both their wisdoms essential for us, earthlings.
ReplyDeleteExcellent rendering of the prompt, like you have been writing in this form for years. I dug the Moon poem best as well. I considered writing two or three of these, since they are so short, but alas, I stifled the urge, & went with naked brevity.
ReplyDeleteVery, very good poem. The moon, yes, it is so magic...
ReplyDeleteI love the moon also in daytime...
Hugs

Lovely poems and beautifully matched!
ReplyDeleteGroovy pieces both!
ReplyDeleteOh, these together are such magic, Grace...they both impart such wisdom as well...beautiful work indeed.
ReplyDeletei liked swaddle your heat a lot.
ReplyDeleteTWO poems, you clever girl! I addressed a heavenly body too, just posted it now. I especially love your moon poem - and the muted colors in it. Beautiful. I love the image of the moon as a wandering monk. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove! You are brave...love how you did both...I am drawn to the moon and sun as well...
ReplyDeleteBoth compliment each other, just as both verses did to.
ReplyDeleteI like them both...myth turns you to monk is great..each line is rich with images.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed both, but ah, there is something special about that moon, loved the line
ReplyDelete"moonshine above the trees"
"Moonshine" can literally moonlight, or the other definition of an "intoxicating beverage," the effect it seems to have on all of us poets & writers!
This is lovely, Grace...I like the way you have given equal 'star billing' to both the sun AND the moon.
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are fantastic Grace! You have captured some lovely images. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThese are both lovely pieces, Grace. :-) You captured the fire of the sun, and the tenderness of the moon.
ReplyDeleteI thought you must have a bottle of moonlight to consider, so perfectly did you capture it.
ReplyDeleteYou've done a lovely job with the form you shared with us. I like the contrast of sun and moon. Thanks for hosting tonight.
ReplyDeleteboth are wonderful...graceful as always..smiles..
ReplyDeleteOur faithful star! and our magic moon! I'm glad you didn't call moon inconstant! I love that the sun stirs and swaddles, that heat and fire are calm and wise. A perfect pairing, Grace.
ReplyDeleteso well tuned to the prompt ~
ReplyDeleteYou packed a lot into a few lines! What a good thought, to use those initial letters at other places in the poems too.
ReplyDeleteI especially like the first, Grace, as it felt like such a great conceit to me. But both are lovely and great for the prompt. K.
ReplyDeletei'll look at the sun differently now... loved the sage comment
ReplyDeleteLovely duo here. And how the moon reflects the life giving light of the sun.
ReplyDeleteTigerbrite
Both of these are lovely. They "feel" so right.
ReplyDeleteExcellent job with the prompt, Grace. I like this very much, especially "so we may swaddle your heat through each sky storm."
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic. They flow really well and you can't tell that they don't feel like they were forced to stay within the rules of this type of poem. Well done.
ReplyDeleteGrace - these are lovely. The sun as sage is wonderful and I am a sucker for a great moon poem! Beautiful!
ReplyDelete"milk pearled, dreamt by poets
ReplyDeletemarveling you."
Really strong metaphors in this. Love the description of the sun. My favorite lines are about the moon.
Loved both sun and moon - but your depiction of the sun as simply another star is important. Reminds us that we are in a vast, unimaginable universe. Also, the image looked like felt or candy floss, which was in itself quite cool! Sorry I have not been around. Art is taking over my life (and office), plus the usual "art of the mind," the labyrinth... Peace, Amy
ReplyDeleteLoved both of these...so beautifully depicted...the yin and yang of the skies.
ReplyDeleteSo creative approach, Grace! I really feel happy while reading and after too. My fav. in "Sun" the line 'sky storm splitting the land'. In "Moon" it's ' Some nights
ReplyDeletemyth turns you to a monk' ~...thank you
"some nights myth turns you to a monk"--what an imaginative way of thinking of the moon...beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi Grace
ReplyDeleteI always gravitate towards the moon. It inspires so many sleepless nights of poetry. Lovely as always - Grace I have been away for sometime. It is lovely to be back.
