Dancing in the afternoon
Taste of nectar Overpowers fresh blooms Swirling above blue-stripped sky, bees wiggle and hum rhythm of air & clouds Sweet song of honey captivates running deep their veins With quick beats, they fly round and round between heat & sugary dreams I dance with buzzing choir
Posted for D'verse Poets pub - Quadrille - a poem in 44 words ~ Hosted by Bjorn Rudberg Bees "dance" as a form of communication to other bees about a source of nectar or honey ~ Picture credit: here
Ha, I am going to discontinue mentioning having an object following 'dance.' Really seems very, very few picked up on that aspect. So just delete all my words regarding this. Smiles.
OK... I don't know what's the weather is like where you are, but today its -5 degrees here, so thinking about summer breeze and bees is a stretch.. (smile)
Those bees really work hard, wings beating constantly, busy, busy. A sweet testament to the beauty that is a bee and love the image of a "buzzing choir."

Dance is perfect for a poem about bees. Not only do they communicate through dance, but the way they move from flower to flower seems a sort of dance as well.
Reading the lines of your beautiful poem made me feel like I was right there with the bees, watching them go about their business :) I love the snow right now but I do miss summer! Since it's very cold here right now, too, I loved the feeling of summer for a moment. Have a wonderful day, Grace! Love and hugs to you, Beate
Brutally cold here, but my mind and heart sees the summer bees and feels the heat...the last line signs like something Emily Dickinson would write. Wonderful.

LOVE these lines! Great take on the prompt with a wonderful 44 words.
Really an evocative scene you have set here, Grace. I can see those wiggling and humming bees so well from your words.
ReplyDeleteOne thing to mention - Bjorn asked that 'dance' be used with an object. Check his examples. Feel free to delete this comment.

DeleteNo problem Mary ~ Thanks for the visit, smiles ~
DeleteBees really wiggle their behinds; Disney did a lot of footage with them in his 50's wild life features; imaginative use of the challenge.

DeleteBees sure can move about, although when they sting one may shout.

ReplyDeleteI never thought of bees as a dance subject, thanks Grace. that's great!

ReplyDeleteThe "sugary dreams" and "buzzing choir"are intriguing thoughts! Hope the bees continue dancing and pollinating :)
ReplyDelete"sugary dreams"---such perfect wording for bees :-)
ReplyDeleteI think you and I are partial to flowers ;) Nice one.
ReplyDeleteI think you heliotrope like some flowers... A great dance with buzz.
