Keeper of secrets

the days blur in sulfur

time is raging sky of crimson & smoke

and come nights

your eyes are teacups of insomnia

the intensity of your secrets eat you

your dreadful premonitions wither you

as if all your life events

are open book somersaulting in street corner

bring the watcher

he is a guardian riding on swallow's wings

he hands over the

key of the moon to

you

& you

are hallowed in silence,

made of candlelight

& cosmic heartbeats

catching feverish dream of cathedrals afloat in the universe

  1. Oh I love this version... I think I would need the key to the moon some nights as well... day problems are gravity.

  2. This is quite beautiful, Grace. The closing stanzas are amazing and evocative, especially with these lines:

    "You

    are hallowed in silence,

    made of candlelight

    & cosmic heartbeats

catching feverish dream of cathedrals afloat in the universe"

It's captivating and surreal. Beautifully penned and as well exquisite.

  3. I love this poem of secrets, Grace, the use of colour in the first stanza, and the line: ‘the intensity of your secrets eats you’. I also love the lines:
    ‘& you
    are hallowed in silence,
    made of candlelight
    & cosmic heartbeats’.

  4. This is absolutely gorgeous in its use of language and imagery, Grace!❤️ The moon is without a doubt the keeper of secrets.

  5. The first stanza is jaw dropping to me. Having visited some hot sulphur springs in Iceland, of all places, I remember the fumes and the steam that actually do blur your vision....and then the use of the word crimson which, in my mind, so equates with raging. And teacup eyes for insomnia. Oh yes....secrets kept can be disturbing...seeking the keys to the moon --- where perhaps we can lock our secrets away??? Or are there more secrets there that will come tumbling out?
The somersaulting line is also so vivid for me.
Your use of language is always so vivid! Really like this as it relates to the artwork!

  7. I like the surreal feel to this, especially that last line that for some reason I only noticed the third reading of this poem.

  8. So many beautiful lines in this, Grace! "The days blur in sulfur" sets the tone. "Teacups of insomnia" "life events... somersaulting on a street corner" and that ending line.

  11. This seems dark and edgy. I wonder what we would find if the moon was unlocked

    bring the watcher

he is a guardian riding on swallow's wings

  12. I really love your ending...
    you

    are hallowed in silence,

    made of candlelight

    & cosmic heartbeats

This is great... silence made of candle light!!

  15. It seems like 'the watcher' brings some much-needed respite to a tortured soul. I love the description 'your eyes are teacups of insomnia.'

  16. Eyes that are "teacups of insomnia" - what a great description. Mine have been like that all night. Smiles. I love the guardian riding on swallow's wings, and your closing lines are perfect.

  19. There's a dreamy feel to this, as befits the artwork. You capture the burden of being the keeper of secrets, and the magic, as well.

  20. A dream guardian! We all need one of those.

  24. bring the watcher
he is a guardian riding on swallow's wings
he hands over the key of the moon to you

There is an element of a guardian angel watching over us in our moments of despair to offer blessings, so it appears, Grace!
