December days

i don't measure the days
     white-ashed clouds & snow
piles up my garden
& ghosts the nights of faded ink
instead i marvel at every

sunrise, hint of savage pink
     crowing gloriously of spring songs
& beat of your nectarine heart
in the wild abandon of the dance

  1. I do love those mornings of savage pink... they are so few, but on tuesday I bicycled to work in that marvelous light...

  10. What a lovely poem, you let us marvel along with you. I love the implication that you are not counting the days till spring, or simply enduring winter. So many people wish their lives away waiting for something else instead of marveling with you.
