November morning

i shiver
my skin grows out from darkness
ghostly pale silvery moonglow turns
lightning hues of rose lavender blades

a blossoming of perfume
petals unfold, fingers of clouds & stardust
a beauty unimaginable
at the crack of dawn

i rise
raindew on my eyelids

  1. I, too, shiver. At THIS:
"my skin grows out from darkness"

  2. Oh.. the glory of dawn... though to me in November it seems too sluggish to even get started....

  3. How lovely - rising into the light. I love those fingers of cloud and stardust. One of the best things about this time of year is the fact that you get to see the sunrise regularly. You capture that anticipation here.

  14. I’m so glad I’m reading your poem at the right time of day, Grace, this November morning! I love that it’s so immediate: written in the first person, starting with an active verb, and I feel that shiver. Your second stanza is my favourite description of the crack of dawn.
