Five lighthouses on darkness

i.
thunder crackles sky-
wind picks up howling lament-
my lips bleed - darkness -

ii.
i taste darkness, briny-
stow me on boat, dandelion
weaving between stones-

iii.
brittle stone of ice-
teeth of unforgivin sins
claw deep, darkness,
a seed

iv.
bells are silent-
weeping willows in darkness
as I wave goodbye-

v.
sweep tower
of bats
and darkness
reefed with Dead man's fingers-

  2. I have always have a fondness for lighthouses... somehow as long as we have a beacon leading us we can survive in dark.

  6. Five sterling haiku--#2 does it for me--like the line /dandelion weaving between stones/. Darkness-darkness puts me in mind of rock and roll song lyrics by the Youngbloods, Robert Plant & Jesse Colin Young.

  9. Interesting choice of a title, with each haiku, being a lighthouse, for the soul, in the spreading darkness, of our world.

  10. Love the loneliness of the lighthouses, bringing some much-needed light into a dark, dark world. And I read these verses:

    claw deep, darkness,
    a seed

    a bit inverted

    Claw seep, darkness
    a deed

which also worked for me. At least, it set my brain running in all sorts of directions, perhaps not intended by you.

  12. Lighthouses are magnificent but also a little eerie in the way way they mostly stand alone, throwing their light out to sea. Your poem reflects the eeriness so well, Grace.

  20. There's a darkness around things that one has done that seem to need forgiveness, but are not forgiven. In that case, the lighthouse makes one aware of these, at least, that is how I am reading it. I assume the other lighthouses support that middle one.

  21. Dark, very dark, Grace. But the more I read of your work, the more I like it. The darkness here throws oneself into serious contemplation. Jane

  23. The structure of this -- 5 parts, separated-- lends to a haunting feeling of disconnectedness that works well with the tone of your words. Wonderful, Grace. ~ Peace, Jason

  25. Always loved lie houses, oops did I really say that ? Your poem gives me new hope, friend Grace ... as long as its not gonna be your soldier son/daughter or my soldier son/daughter ... lets see them pitch in, eg: Trudeaus son/daughter and Trumps son/ daughter and Putins son/daughter and Nethanyahos son/daughter and Kims son/daughter ... they will feel no love and compassion for us ... Always, cat.
